Splash update - Sunday, March 11

Swim NS Club Presidents, Head Coaches & Board of Directors,

I would like to provide the membership with a brief update on Aquatic Facilities in HRM.

On behalf of Swim Nova Scotia, I have participated in three meetings with HRM Staff, other Aquatic Provincial Organizations (PSO’s) and Aquatic Facility Managers.  The purpose of these meetings continues our discussions surrounding access, allocations and availability surrounding aquatic facilities in HRM.

HRM’s next step has been to develop a public online aquatic survey; this survey was launched today, March 7th.  We urge all our members to take the time to complete the survey: The survey will be used to gain general public and broader community feedback that will help inform the strategy.

The online survey will be open during the months of March and April and will be promoted through posters, rack cards, PSA announcements etc.  In addition, they will be promoting it through their main website , the Halifax Parks and Recreation Facebook Page and @HFXrec on Twitter (starting tomorrow).

The survey is one part of the community engagement.  A variety of outreach engagements will also be planned; as I am notified, I will share the details with the swimming community.

Finally, key meetings are underway with Senior Swimming Canada Staff and Senior HRM Staff.  We hope that these meetings and meetings with Swim Nova Scotia will assist HRM in understanding the needs of our sport.

I will continue to report back to the Swim Nova Scotia Board of Director’s and the membership as additional information is received.  In the meantime, we encourage all Swim Nova Scotia members to complete the online survey as soon as possible.

If you have any further questions or comments, please do not hesitate to contact me.
