Aulea Weekly Update

Great job to all Aulea swimmers this  weekend!  Due to everyone’s combined efforts Aulea swam it’s way to an overall team title at the Junior Age Group Championships.  More importantly, Aulea swimmers made 8 new meet records, 14 new AAA times, over 20 new AA times and swam to over 80% personal best times.  Thanks to the coaching staff for making sure their swimmers were prepared and providing a challenging but also fun environment on a daily basis for these swimmers.  Also, thanks to the parents who served as officials, marshals, timers, cheer squad and pretty much any job that was needed this weekend.  Our success is due in no small part to your amazing support!  Please follow this link for full meet results (including high point standings, team results, and new meet records):

Last and certainly not least, great job to all Aulea swimmers at this meet.  This meet is a stepping stone to greater things to come!  In fact, in looking back at past Junior Age Group Championship results, half of our squad travelling this week to Senior Sectionals got their start at Junior Age Group Championships.

This week Mindy Artelli, Lily Bachl, Alana Barthel, Thomas Caps, Sean Duval-Arnould, Luke Faurot, Rhys Gough, James Lyon, Abbey Mitchell, Alexa Phillips, Jen Reiter, and Jon Reiter will be travelling to Federal Way, WA for Senior Sectional Championships.  Sending a dozen athletes to this meet is a HUGE step for this club as it’s more than double the previous largest squad we have sent.  I will be travelling with them departing on Sunday, so please refer all questions to Coach Emma as she will be acting as head coach when I’m gone.

As we turn our attention forward, we have a BC meet on 03/25 which is exciting because we  had many swimmers who were just barely off their A times to qualify for JAGs and will now get their chance to shine.  That meet file should be posted no later than tomorrow for sign-ups.  After the BC meet, long course season will officially begin and we will be beginning long course training right after the meet.  The long course schedule has  been posted online already so please refer to that as you begin your summer planning.

This week is the final week of polar bear club so get those practices in for our pizza party which is coming up the last week of March for all those who hit the required attendance numbers.

There will be no AM sessions this week and afternoon practice will go on at it’s regularly scheduled time.

Happy Streamlines and Goooooo Aulea!

Coach Joe
