Our Open Water races in June bring in funding for our team, both through registration fees and through sponsorships. This event brings in over 700 participants and is open to all swimmers, not just USA Swimmers. Masters, Tri, recreational swimmers all participate—registration for these groups is through the June Open Water button on our website.
Just as every meet your child attends is run by volunteers, so must our meet—it’s our way of giving back to NC Swimming, too.
Attached is the sponsorship letter, which you can print, post on Facebook, email to local businesses, etc. Any sponsorship you bring in will count toward your family fundraising. Also, we will have flyers to post around town, at Fort Bragg, etc., fairly soon, as well.
For amounts on Family Fundraising, please see Team Info/Dues—it is one amount, based on your child’s squad level; for families with more than one child, it is set by the child in the highest squad.
Every Open Water swimmer gets a t-shirt! T-shirt ads are therefore placed on 700+ shirts. Race sponsors get banners attached to the finish line arch, signs placed in front of our awards, and their name announced throughout the race. Website ads and other sponsorships are available as well.
Registratrion for the meet for SSS swimmers--and registration for parent volunteer jobs-- is through the meets page. Meet registration for all other swimmers is through the June Open Water button on the left hand side of the website.
400 M Splash and Dash—For everyone, including Developmental Swimmers! SSS provides buddies for this race, done in honor of the Boys and Girls Club. This summer, as last, we will provide free lessons and a summer league to Boys and Girls Club participants, as part of USA Swimming’s Make A Splash outreach program—it’s our way of giving back to an underserved part of our community.
The Military Mile—We host a “Military Mile” as our first event on Saturday morning, with discounts on registration fees for active duty athletes, plus we have given a donation to a military group as well. This year, the Military Mile will benefit Moore County School’s Peer 2 Peer (High School) and Junior Peer 2 Peer (Middle School) programs for military children transferring into and out of Moore County Schools. The programs, part of the Military Child Education Coalition, is active at two MCS high schools, one MCS middle school, and is set to expand to all public middle schools in Moore County.
The 5K, 3K, & 2K---These races are swum around a 1K triangular course. They are open to all ages.
The 800 M—Another race, aimed at 10 & unders but open to anyone, where our youngest can swim with a buddy.
Open Water races are open to everyone—not just USA swimmers! We have swimmers of all ages—triathletes, Masters, military, rec swimmers. Registration for non-SSS swimmers (parents, etc.) is through the green June Open Water races button on our website. A Single Meet Membership fee in USA Swimming is included for all non-USA swimmers (which includes our Developmental swimmers, as well as all Masters swimmers—USAS and US Masters do not have reciprocity for races).
