Charlie Fahey, Emma Main, and Zachary Mitchell crushed it at Durham! Not only were their swims fast, but they returned to Vermont with an even greater level of team spirit, with Emma Main creating some fantastic team spirit signs for our swimmers competing at the following Age Group meets.
Charlie had two scoring (top-12) finishes at the meet, despite just 9 years old! Charlie placed 9th in the 100-yard backstroke and 12th in the 200-yard individual medley. Way to go, Charlie!
Emma had two scoring finishes as well, going 2/2 with both best times and garnering points for the team! Emma placed 10th in the 50-yard backstroke, and 12th in the 100-yard backstroke!
Madison Cholewa, Miles Cochrane, Ethan Hoak, Ella Miller, Kimberly Nguyen, and Blake Ruescher had a fantastic age group meet at WPI. They are one of our largest crews at the 15-18 meet in team history!
Miles, Ella, and Kimberly were our finalists at the meet. Kimmy placed 27th in prelims with a personal best in the 100-yard breaststroke, before ultimately finishing in 29th. Kim also made it back to finals in the 200-yard breaststroke, placing 26th and dropping time from her prelims race! Nice job, Kim!
The legend of Miles continues to grow! In just 3 years of competitive swim experience, Miles has established himself as one of the strongest male swimmers in New England. Miles went 6/6 over the weekend, with all of his races resulting in qualification for finals. Miles also achieved a new sectionals cut in his 100-yard backstroke. His best result came in the 200 breaststroke, placing 11th at finals after dropping over 2 seconds from his prelims result. Awesome work, Miles!
Ella had an outstanding meet despite an up-and-down season fighting off injury and illness. Despite not being tapered, Ella defended her title in the 200-yard backstroke. After qualifying in 3rd, Ella achieved a life-time best and broke the two-minute barrier and winning the event. Ella was also crowned New England champion in the 100-yard backstroke with her 2nd best time of her career. Way to go, Ella!
Dan Coel, Luc Gagnon, Marin Hemmett, Oleksiy Plavshudin, and Caleb Workman were our individual qualifiers for the meet. A huge shout out goes to Rowan Grosselfinger, Alex Meek, and Harry Sanders for making the trip to provide our team with a boys 13-14 200 freestyle relay. The relay set a new team record and placed 11th at the meet!
Caleb and Marin led the way individually, with both qualifying for finals. Caleb achieved a lifetime best in the 200-yard backstroke, qualifying as the 18th seed. Caleb maintained that position at finals. Way to go, Caleb!
Marin had an outstanding meet, qualifying for finals on two occasions. Marin achieved a personal best in her 100-yard breaststroke, qualifying as the 18th seed. Marin lowered her personal mark again at finals, placing 16th! Marin also lowered her own team record in the 200-yard breaststroke event, en route to a 16th place finish! Awesome job, Marin!
