March 12, 2018
Good Afternoon Tiger Families,
I am pleased to announce Rick Hancock will join the Memphis Tiger Swimming coaching staff as Associate Head Coach, starting March 26.
Rick is an accomplished coach, most recently serving as head age group coach for Memphis Thunder Aquatics Club for the past 5 ½ years. During that time, Rick helped more than double the size of Thunder’s age group program, and developed numerous SES champions, Southern Zone champions as well as NCSA Juniors and Futures qualifiers. Rick swam competitively for the University of Virginia, where he earned all-ACC honors and was a two-time ACC team champion.
In my message on March 2, I communicated the program re-design which included our new group descriptions and qualification standards. Adding an experienced full-time coach will better support this re-design; ensuring we have the depth and experience across our coaching staff to properly instruct and develop swimmers in every group.
With Rick on board, Justin Ingram will continue to lead the age group program. I will continue to have overall responsibility for the Senior group, with Rick adding on-deck responsibility for Senior Silver. Rick will also be involved on-deck with the age group program – the specifics of which are still being finalized. With our program re-design and adding such an accomplished coach to the fold, I want to maximize our talent on deck to build on our reputation as one of the premier youth sports organizations in Memphis.
As I said on March 2, I’m looking forward to a very bright future for MTS. Please join me in welcoming Rick to the program.
