March 20, 2018
Hello WEST Families,
Happy Spring 2018! To celebrate, here’s a fun fact: As of today, both the Northern and Southern Hemispheres will experience an equal amount of daylight. For those of us here in the Northern Hemisphere, it marks the beginning of spring, with daylight hours continuing to lengthen until the summer solstice in June. For those south of the equator, it’s the first day of fall.
Enjoy these uplifting updates!
3 Day Weekends
Remember, we are going to give all club team swimmers 3-day weekends with Friday & Saturday OFF March 23-24, 30-31 and Apil 6-7 (Pre-Co mp will run normal). This is an opportunity for the kids to see friends outside of swimming, participate in other activities, travel, have family time, etc. These breaks start THIS WEEK!
We are currently organizing our travel plans for the Mel Zajac meet in B.C, so if your swimmer in Senior/ Senior Elite has qualifying times and would like to go, please put in your meet declaration ASAP so we can work on entires. If you are interested in chaperoning, please email Coach Tim at email@example.com

Summer 2018 Tentative Start
WEST’s Summer Schedule will tentatively go into effect Wednesday June 20th. We are still finalizing our summer practice schedule and will be releasing it as soon as it is set. PreComp and Seasonal Conditioning will conclude June 19th. Summer Team will begin on June 20th.
Do you want to earn your volunteer hours easily, while being fed and close to the swimming action during meets? Well you are in luck! WEST is in need of volunteers to become officials, and will be holding a clinic during Swim-A-Thon at 9am, Saturday April 14th. You won’t be able to contain the excitement as you learn the ins and outs of competitive swimming and how to write a DQ slip. Let Coach Tim know if you’re interested!
April 14th is quickly approaching! Have you forgotten what Swim-A-Thon is? Here’s a refresher:
Every year, swim teams across the nation host a
SwimAThon, during which the kids swim 200 laps (or for 2hrs,
whichever comes first) and solicit donations from family, friends,
and local businesses for their teams. The fundraiser is put
on in part by USA Swimming, so 95% of proceeds go directly to our
WEST team and 5% goes to USAS.
WEST's 2018 SwimAThon will be on Friday, April 13th for Senior and
Senior Elite and on Saturday, April 14th for Explore, Discover,
Challenge, and Accelerate.
Keep up the hard work fundraising, we are doing so awesome that I can barely keep up with the donations coming in. If you have any questions or concerns, please don’t hesitate to reach out to me via email! ( firstname.lastname@example.org )
Happy Swimming Everyone!
