Hi Trojan Families,
My name is Mikayla McDermott and I am part of the Provincial Black group. I am currently part of a change agent project through my school in Shanty Bay. To affect change, I am organizing an Oro-Medonte Kids Run @ Burl's Creek Event Grounds on May 5th, 2018. All proceeds from event fundraising will go to RVH's Child & Youth Mental Health Program.
We are planning for 500 participants at the event. The run will bring kids, families, and community partners together to continue the conversation on mental health and addictions. The event falls during Children's Mental Health Week.
This chip timed run will have two races: 2.5 km (14 & Under) and 5 km (All Ages). For interested parties, participants can form 4 person race teams. I encourage you to find other swim team members and join us. There will be lots of great prizes. So far prizes include trail running shoes and tickets to Canada's Wonderland.
Hot dog, ice cream, and a drink will be included in the participant race package, along with an event t-shirt and a finisher medal. Every participate (18&U) will get a frozen yogurt certificate from Menchie's. Other goodies to be announced in coming weeks!
I need your help! This is a topic that effects all children one way or another. I want to affect positive change in the community related to child and youth mental health and addictions, but I can't do this alone. I would like you to come to my event and please help me get the word out through social media.
