RACE was at it again competing against the best in the State, at the 13&Over State Championship in Lexington. It was a great meet and atmosphere for RACE at the home of the, University of Kentucky Wildcats Swimming and Diving Team.
Here is a look into RACE at the meet:
400 IM, 200 Backstroke, 100 Backstroke
Landon kicked off the weekend with the 400 IM. He had a great swim and continues to get better each time he swims the event. He followed the 400 IM with the 200 Back and dropped over 1.5 seconds! He finished the weekend with a great swim in the 100 Back.
Sam had an excellent swim in his 200 Back. He dropped over 4.5 seconds!!! He looked great throughout the whole swim and, made the 4.61 second drop look effortless.

Logan began the meet Friday by dropping 4.65seconds in his 400IM, shaving some time off of his 200 Free and qualifying for finals in the 100 Breast. He came that night for the 100 Breast, which he swam over a second faster than his best time and moved from 14th to take the 9th place spot! He also anchored the 400 Free Relay Friday night, swimming nearly 2seconds faster than his best time. Saturday he started the day with a best time in the 100 Fly and a spot in the championship final! He then dropped some time in the 50 Free and ended the morning session with the 500 Free. Saturday night at finals, he dropped even more time in his 100 Fly and finished in 7th place!! He got to swim another fast 100 Fly on the Medley Relay and did a great job of holding, and gaining, ground for the team. Finishing up the weekend Sunday; he swam the 200 IM, lowered his best 100 Free time, finished 16th in the 200 Fly and, swam a great Butterfly leg on the 200 Medley Relay.

Ethan started out the weekend on Friday with; a new best time in the 400IM, then swimming the 200 Back and 1000 Free. He also qualified for the 100 Breast that day but, was limited to three events per day. In finals Friday, Ethan swam the second leg of the 400 Free Relay that was five seconds faster than their entry time. Saturday he dropped some time in his 200 Breast and he came back for finals to bring home the 400 Medley relay as the freestyle leg. Sunday he was again tasked with anchoring the 200 Medley Relay and did a great job bringing home the relay fast!

Canaan, at his first State Meet, did a fantastic job and came home with some hardware to show from his State Meet premier! Friday he was entered in the 100 Breast and held ground as the third leg of the 400 Free Relay. Saturday he swam the 200 Breast and was also the Breaststroke leg of the 400 Medley Relay. Sunday he swam a strong Breaststroke leg on the 200 Medley Relay helping them to be six seconds faster than the entry time. He had a great meet in addition to, learning and gaining valuable experience from his first State Meet!

Luca had a very strong start to the weekend dropping 20.35 seconds in the 400IM! He followed that by dropping over 2seconds in his 200 Free and then swam the 200 Back. He came back Friday night to lead off the 400 Free Relay more than half a second faster than his best time. He started off Saturday by shaving 2.64seconds off his 100 Fly time. He then swam the 50 Free followed by an 8.48second drop in the 500 Free. That night at finals he again lead off in a new best time as the Backstroker, on the 400 Medley Relay. He finished the weekend with the 100 Free, 200 Fly and 100 Back in his individual events. He also got the 200 Medley Relay off to a fast start in the Backstroke leg.

Leah did a great job of handling being RACE's sole female representative at the meet! She was very competitive and had great swims against the best in the state in her 100&200 Breaststrokes, Friday and Saturday. She finished the weekend with a huge swim in the 100 Back. It was an awesome swim from start to finish. She went 1.7seconds faster than her best time and made it look easy!
