DCS Swimmers Challenged to swim Faster and Farther -- SWIM-A-THON in 7 days!
After an outstanding team performance at the SouthWest Divisional Championship last month, DCS swimmers are now poised to achieve great group and individual swims next week during our annual USA Swimming Foundation Swim-a-thon! Coach Jarrod has given each swimmer a goal number of laps to swim during his/her practice time, ranging from 40 laps to 320! Check out your athlete's aspirational goal under your personal "fundraising" account. Remember, as a team, our goal is to swim the distance from the BWAC to Omaha, Nebraska, site of the 2020 US Olympic Trials. 999 miles! Next week is stage one -- let's see how far we go!
What is Swim-a-thon? For DCS, its one of our team's most important annual fundraisers. If you haven't activated your account, please do so today! DCS works in partnership with the USA Swimming Foundation; so every dollar raised positively affects our team and swimmers directly as well as helps support USAS learn-to-swim initiatives and the USAS National Team.
To date, only 19 swimmers out of our roster of 79 have successfully reached out to friends and family to support this important team initiative! We need all hands on deck. Any amount is appreciated as we strive to reach our team goal of $10,000. Every swimmer has an opportunity to earn prizes, either through a stellar fundraising effort or a killer swim or both! Invite everyone you know to visit our website to show their support. A paper pledge form will be sent in a separate email and will be available on the DCS website.
**Action required ** All swimmers will need a parent/friend/cheerleader to count his/her laps during the event next week! Counting sheets will be provided at the pool.

Summer Long Course Season Meets Posted under Events
As a year-round swimmer, it's important to maintain the momentum of excellence in technique and practice by participating in a meet or two this summer. It's also a way to measure hard work. Please sign up for a Long Course meet (50 meter pool)! The season is short but a lot of fun. All meets are on the DCS website. Coach Jarrod anticipates that several swimmers will qualify to compete at the the State Championship in July. Make it happen!
Coming up -- summer practice schedule. As soon as we have confirmed all times with the BWAC, the summer practice schedule will be posted on our website.
