Happy Monday Sharks!
I hope everyone has had a fantastic break and is looking forward to starting back to practice this week! I'm sending this message as news so you can access it on our website anytime.
Some happenings over the next few weeks -
- This Saturday 4/14/18 is the CCS Fun Run at Shelby High School. So to avoid the congestion, we will practice at Kings Mountain instead of Shelby. Senior 8+8:30-10:30, Mako 8+8:30-10:15, Tigersharks 10:15-11:30, Hammerheads/Reef Sharks 10:30-11:30. THIS SATURDAY ONLY!
- On Saturday 4/21/18, I'll be at Shelby High School at 1:30 for swim team/swim lesson tryouts/sign ups. Basically anyone who is interested in swimming can come and get evaluated for either swim lessons or the team! See attached flyer.
- On Wednesday 4/25/18, Dave Thomas will be visiting our team! Dave is a sport development consultant with USA Swimming, covering the southern zone (basically the southeastern U.S.). Here is a link to his bio https://www.usaswimming.org/articles-landing-page/2017/02/18/sport-development-consultants Dave will first talk with the kids 4:30-5:30, then talk with parents from 5:30-6:30. So, Senior/Mako will practice 4:30-6:30, all other groups 4:30-5:30. Please make every effort to attend, as Dave is not in town often and is a great educational speaker. Potential parent topics include structure of USA Swimming, benefits of swimming, parent skills, responsibilities to the team and their child, nutrition, supplements, why kids swim, why they stay in it, why kids quit, child development primer and more! For athletes - 4 things you can do to be better (Attitude, Sleep, Nutrition and Hydration) The 5 Rules (Show up, do your best, listen with intent, respect others, honor your teammates with your effort) goal setting, getting back on track, etc. This is important for our team, please be there!!
- May 4-5 is our first long course swim meet in Huntersville. Sign up now!
Mark these dates on your calendar, and I'll look forward to seeing you all this week!
