On July 7th and 8th,
St. Lucia will organize the inaugural St. Lucia Channel Swim
between St. Lucia
in the south and
in the north.
The swimmers will cross 33.5 km (20.8 miles) across the beautiful St Lucia Channel . " Both islands are high volcanic islands so the swimmers will always see the looming green mountains ," describes Waring. " Conditions in July generally call for water in the high 70°F’s (25°C - 26°C) with medium-sized Atlantic Ocean swells. Conditions can vary day to day ."
Co-hosted by the Ministry of Tourism and the Department of Youth & Sports, the swim intends to be a premier warm water crossing that attracts top open water swimmers from around the world. The water temperatures make this swim accessible to swimmers who may not have the ability to withstand 10 or more hours of cold water.
Solo swimmers and relays are able to compete.
