Action Packed Week of Swimming for MAC Swimmers


8 MAC swimmers travelled to Montreal for the 2018 Canadian trials, this year’s trials were a selection meet for 2018 Junior Pan Pacs in Fiji. A number of MAC swimmers were in the mix for a place on the team throughout the week. Owen Haung, Alex Axon, Jake Gu, Brooke Switzer, Connor Walker and Victoria Kwan all made final swims. Victoria Kwan had a great week picking up 2nd place in the 200 Fly, 1ST in the 400 IM and swimming the time standard on the 200 IM to secure her place on the Junior Pan Pacific team in August. Victoria is now looking forward to the Senior Trials in July where she will be aiming to make the Senior Pan Pac team.

Just Across the Pond in Australia Ruslan Gaziev was representing Canada at the 2018 Commonwealth Games. This was Ruslan’s first Senior International team selection and he had a fantastic week of racing.  He was part of Canada’s 4x100 free relay that finished 5th in a very closely contested race for bronze. He also competed in the 50 Freestyle making the semi final finishing 14th in a time of 22.80. Canada had an excellent week in the pool finishing 4th in the medal table with 20 medals.
