Manchester Farm Swim Team (MFST )                         April 10, 2018

MFST ORGANIZATIONAL MEETING – MFST will hold an organizational meeting on Monday, April 23rd from 7:30 – 8:00 in the Manchester Farm Community Center (MFCC).  We will discuss our upcoming season, answer questions, and discuss the registration process. You can meet Head coach Kyle Brown.

MFST SWIM SUIT SIZING – Monday, April 23rd from 6 – 9 PM.  Our team suit for this year is a custom swim suit in blue.  Zone swimwear will carry our suit.  We will have a swim suit sizing where you can try on and order the swim suit, pay for it, and it will be mailed to you for an extra fee, or you can pick up the suit when it is distributed at the pool before time trials. Anyone who orders after the bulk deadline (3 weeks before time trials) will pay shipping and have it delivered to their home.

MFST REGISTRATION IS OPEN - MFST members register online through our website. The website enables team members to register for the team, view your swimmer's times, and sign up to volunteer. To register, click on Register Now on the right hand side of the home page. If you have an 11 year old that you want to attend swim practices without an adult present, please complete and return to the onsite manager at the Manchester Farm Community Center, a paper copy of the “Swim Team 11 Year Old Permission Form” under documents on the website.

To join the MFST, families must reside in the Manchester Farm community and have a pool membership -- OR -- if you DO NOT live in the Manchester Farm community you must purchase a non-resident pool membership -- keep reading to learn more about that. Also, outside memberships are limited, so be sure to apply as soon as possible!

POOL MEMBERSHIP - Applications for pool membership is done online.  For an application to join the Manchester Farm Pool, please follow the instructions in the link below.

Be sure to submit your application no later than May 1, 2018 in order for it to be processed before the pool opens.

VOLUNTEERS - We need parents to be Certified Officials:

OFFICIALS CERTIFICATION : We have a big need for parents to become Certified MCSL Officials so we can run our swim meets. Consider attending a MCSL Certification Clinic for Stroke and Turn, Starter or Referee. One advantage of becoming certified is you will learn the rules of swimming so you can better instruct your child and help the team in a big way.

Did you know that it takes 36 volunteers to run a home “A” swim meet and 60 volunteers to run a home “B” meet?   Most of those positions you don’t need any experience or training.  However, there are 3 roles that require training/certification, which are Referee, Stroke and Turn, and Starter.  We cannot run a swim meet without themWe really need some parents to step up and attend the clinics.  The clinics last roughly 2.5-3 hours and are free.  See link for the times/locations:

NOTE: All of the clinics are held before the first swim meet. Also, we need 4 certified officials for each “A” meet and 11 certified official for each “B” meet.

SPONSORSHIP : Consider sponsoring the MFST in exchange for advertising. See the attached Sponsorship Form or contact Susanne Goldberg for more information.

MFST SPIRIT WEAR: Heather Spinner will be taking orders for spirit wear.  The order form will be coming soon.

SWIM CAPS: We will have latex caps for purchase at $4.00 per cap. We will have silicone caps for purchase at $7 per cap, with the option of purchasing two swim caps and having your last name printed on the caps for $20 for two caps if purchased at the swim suit sizing.

SPRING SWIMMING TO GET READY FOR SUMMER - Consider swimming now to be ready for the summer. There are many good swim programs in the area. Contact one of them if you are interested. Joe Flaherty’s Dolphins - 301-916-1852,,, Hydrosonic Tibuorones. There is also a developmental program for 12 & Under swimmers at the Germantown Indoor swim center called SwiMontgomery.
