Quote for the week:
“Many people think that patience is a sign of weakness. I think this is a mistake. It is anger that is a sign of weakness, whereas patience is a sign of strength.”
There will not be a Saturday practice this week, as most of the coaching staff will be at a conference, learning ways to better improve our coaching for your swimmers. Always check the online group calendars for the best information as to practices.
Informal Parent Meetings
Starting this week, we will begin having informal parent meetings specific for groups after practices. We will meet every week or two, with info from the coaches, regarding sign ups for meets, goings on within practices, and other info that might be important for you to know.
Evan Austin at World Para Swimming World Series Event
THT Paralympian Evan Austin will be competing this coming weekend at the World Para Swimming World Series event in Indianapolis, IN. He is going to be competing against some of the best athletes in the world, and in our own backyard. He swims each morning, and will swim again each evening in finals. See the attached flyer for more info. Admission is free to all! Coach Dave will be attending both Thursday and Friday morning, if you want to meet up, please let me know: 812-841-2585.
When signing up for swim meets: Log in to your account, and
ick which days you are available to attend the meet. Coaches
will pick events, based on your swimmer’s ability and events
offered. If you have requests, feel free to put them into the
notes section of the signups.
Signups are now open for the Pike Spring Fling and the THT Summer Splash.
Late-comers for Summer Season
Callouts for the summer season have already occurred, but it is not too late to join the Torpedoes. If you have friends, or know of people who are interested, they are welcome to come to tryout when they are available. We will do tryouts before practices, at about 5:40, any day they can make it. Calling ahead is great, but not necessary. Coach Dave- 812-841-2585.
Today or tomorrow, we will have the opportunity for you to learn more about the Torpedoes. We have some board members who are going to help answer questions about the team, and what it means to be a swimmer family. Some will be on hand to help with navigating our website as well. Come with questions.
No sign up is necessary, and
it will be the same info each night, so come to the more convenient
session for you. Things will start at 6:10pm and run until
6:45 or so each night, in the pool classroom.
The Swimming Life
Our team equipment vendor will be at the pool this week. They will have goggles and suits and fins and kickboards and pull buoys and paddles and snorkels and anything else you could want for the pool. They will be in the pool lobby with things set up on both Wednesday and Thursday from 5-7 each night.
For swimmers who were at the divisional meet, or just interested parties, below is the link to the pictures taken by our team photographer, Jamie Oberste-Vorth. At this point pictures are free to download, but we are working on changing that for the future, so enjoy.
