April's fun meet Fundraiser and Last Sprint to Raise-A-Thon

This past Saturday, April 14th, the Delta Sungod swim club (DSSC) hosted its 4th Fun Meet. Over 60 young athletes participated in the event, and it was great to see once more this consistent attendance, allowing the coaching staff to track the progress of the attending students.

Swimmers raced an average of 3 events, including dolphin kick, freestyle, and backstroke for the Dragon – Learn To Compete trainees and individual medley (IM), butterfly and breaststroke for the swimmers of our pre-competitive and competitive groups. After racing, coaches organized a tournament with 4 games: under-water wrestling, aim for the cone, pass the ball over-under and the flip turn contest!

In the 200m IM, it was the chance for 4 of our swimmers to evaluate their progress against the first competitive standard in the Lower Mainland Region : 4:00.00. Joachim Aranda (13) aced it in a time of 3:37.02. Noelle Evans (9) in 4:04.73, Max Zha (10) in 4:08.22 and Manraj Johal (10) in 4:23.20, all three in the JAG group, lowered substantially their previous mark to tickle this standard. Congratulations to them, and all others who raced that day!

All present families were able to share some snacks, kindly prepared by our volunteer parents and coordinator, Neena Sunner. A big thank you to you, and to all timers who helped to make this event smoother every time.

The Delta Sungod Swim Club is currently participating in the Swim-A-Thon. It is a nationwide fundraising event, to try to help non-for-profit swimming associations throughout the country.
