News and Notes
Thank you to everyone who have attended our Open Swim hours, Private Lessons and who are currently participating in our Strokes and Starts & Turns Clinics. It has been wonderful to see so many FCYST swimmers committing their time and energy to improving their swimming and staying in shape for the upcoming season. We know many of our swimmers are also participating in other sports and we wish them much success and are proud of the hard work we know they are putting forth. Our Spring/Summer Season starts next week, so please continue to read through the News and Notes each week and take note of deadlines for events and meets. As always, if you ever have any questions, please reach out to one of the coaches or Melinda. We are always happy to help!
-Re Scheduled Annual Banquet and Awards Night, Friday, April 27th: The Annual Awards Banquet has been rescheduled for Friday, April 27th at Liberty Hall in Kimberly. The event will start at 6 PM and dinner will be served at 6:30 with the event ending at 10 PM. A new event and job sign up has been created on our website. Please commit to this event if you are able to attend. If you already returned your reservation form and payment and are still able to attend, simply re commit to the event. If you are now able to attend, please commit to the event, print off the reservation form and drop off with your payment with the form to the Appleton Y before April 22. If you are no longer able to attend, please contact Melinda and your payment will be refunded. If financial assistance is needed, please reach out to Melinda. We would like to see as many swimmers and their families attend as possible.
-Long Course Season Starts April 23rd: The official start to the 2018 Long Course season is April 23rd! Swimmers need to be registered for the Long Course Season before attending practices. If you have questions about registration, please contact Melinda. Both the Spring and Summer Practice Schedules are on our website. The Spring Practice Schedule runs from April 23rd through June 9th. Our Summer Practice Schedule runs from June 11th through August 1st. The Meet Schedule is also on our website, please review and start committing to meets as deadlines approach fast! Hotel block information is also available for several of our away meets.
-Distance/Sprint Meet: The deadline for the Distance/Sprint Meet at Schroeder is April 20th. This meet is only for USA registered swimmers who have BB time standards. BB time standards listed in the event file for this meet are entered in long course meter only. However, if your swimmer has the BB standard in short course yards, they will be allowed to enter in that event. If you have any questions about whether your swimmer has BB time standards or not, please contact one of the coaches. Time standards can be found on our website as a drop down from the Meets and Events tab on the top of the website.
-Summer Team Hosted Meets: FCYST hosts two large outdoor summer meets at Erb Pool during our Long Course season. This is a major source of revenue for our team and helps to keep registration fees and operating cost down. We will need many volunteers to run these meets successfully, thus keeping other team returning year after year. Please remember that this is a new season and the volunteer requirements start over. Per our Service Hours Policy, each family is responsible to sign up for 4 sessions, 2 concession donations and 1 meet set up or tear down or you will be charged $200. We really do need everyone’s help! These meets are much larger than the two swim meets we host in the Short Course season. Please mark your calendars for our two hosted meets: Summer Classic will take place June 16-17 and the Bird Bath Invite will take place July 6-8. Both swim meets will take place at the new Erb Park Pool. More information and job sign up will be available shortly.
Thanks for all you do for your swimmer and our Team. We appreciate you all and are so greatful to all our FCYST families! The coaches are looking forward to another fantastic season of fast swimming and lots of fun!! See you all in the pool!
