So why hasn’t the pool been moved to Long Course?

You may be wondering…when does the pool switch to Long Course? Well, this change has been delayed for a couple reasons – the main one being that at the end of the SCY season in March, SSC staff got together and agreed that our team needed more work on walls. SCY training offers twice as many opportunities as LCM with regard to walls. In addition, the SCY setup is better for dive team and swim lesson programing. That said, this was always planned as only a 2-week delay and the pool will be moved to LCM April 23rd, 2018.

Growing Champions for Life

As dedicated as we are to helping our athletes perform well in the water, we are more excited about helping them grow into positive, hard-working young adults. USA Swimming has partnered with David Benzel and Growing Champions for life, an organization dedicated to creating cohesive families and principle-centered athletes who want to win, not just sports.

Check out their latest post here about helping your athlete manage performance anxiety. Whether it’s for a big test or swimming for a state cut, we know that the right attitude and approach can make all the difference. They offer 3 tips (below) along with activities/ discussion you can have with your child to help prepare them for the big day!

1. Use Scripted Self-Talk

2. Focus on Plan Rather than Outcome

3. Help them See a Positive Spin on Pressure
