Penner represents DSSC at 2018 Speedo Western Canadian Championships



Delta Sungod Swim Club had a strong showing last weekend as Hailey Penner (15) travelled to Saanich, BC to represent the team at the Speed Western Canadian Championships. Penner was in attendance from April 12-15th at the Saanich Commonwealth Place pool which hosted the best young swimmers from around the lower mainland.

The championship meet requires swimmers to achieve a specific time standard based on their age and event to be eligible to attend the meet. Penner qualified herself for 3 swims throughout the competition. During the 4 days she raced in prelim swims, which are swam in the morning, and qualified herself to race a second swim in finals during the evening in the 200 Butterfly. Final swims are determinded by the Top 16 times swam during prelims per event. Penner was able to achieve 2 personal bests throughout the weekend in the 200 butterfly and 400 IM.
