2018 LCM Season Begins! Mesa, Spring Splash Review

The 2018 Long Course Season has begun. The USA Club Swimming year is broken into two seasons.  Short Course Yards, September - March, we race SCY in a 25 yard pool.  Then Long Course Meters, April - August, we race LCM in 50 meter pool.  For the 2018 season so far we have raced two meets.  First was Cooper at the Mesa Pro meet in Arizona, and then 32 of or age group swimmers went to Folsom last weekend!

Cooper had a fun trip and swam a new personal best time in the 50m Butterfly at the Mesa Pro.  He was able to final in most of his events 100 Fly, 50 Free, and the personal best 50 Butterfly in :24.99!  The wind was very strong and made for some challenging conditions throughout the 3 day meet.  This will likely be Cooper's last official long course meet with TTST.  He will be heading off to Florida State University early this summer to get started.  It has been a great 3 years coaching this wonderful young man.  I can't wait to see what he does at FSU!

Spring Splash 2018 is in the books.  It was sunny, warm and beautiful all weekend long.  The nice days combined with a fresh new long course pool to race in made for some very fast swims.  The first long course is always a fun meet because we get to see what has happened over the short course season since their last long course season last July or August.  For the younger age groups this generally makes a recipe for BIG time improvements!

Alyssa once again led that charge for swimmer of the Meet (her 3rd in a row).  Once again she had all best times from her last long course swims.  I liked her 400 Free, and 200 Breast the most.  The 400 she dropped over 1 minute, and the 200 Breast was nearly a :35 second drop since last summer!

Honor Board:

Megan D. was not far off of Alyssa for swimmer of the meet.  She also made some big drops, and my favorite was her 100 and 200 Free for the way she raced them!

Lola Williams had a standout 100 Free making her Junior Olympics cut in that event!  She also improved on all of her swims with some big time drops.

Calissa had an amazing meet.  Big improvements continued in all of her events.  The freestyle events on days 1 and 2 really impressed me, especially her 400 Free!

Josh Williams picked up the backstroke and freestyle events this meet plus the 100 Butterfly.

Overall all 32 swimmers that attended made the honor board in something they did.  It was a great meet.
