VPSC to Host Dressel, Lochte at Mel Zajac Jr. International

As co-hosts for the Mel Zajac Jr. International Swim Meet with the UBC Thunderbirds, VPSC is excited to welcome international swimming stars Caeleb Dressel and Ryan Lochte in addition to Jan SwitkowskiMark Szaranek and their teammates from the University of Florida Gators led by coach Gregg Troy.

Dressel most recently made international sports headlines as the first person under 18 seconds in the 50 Free SCY and under 40 seconds in the 100 Free SCY at the NCAA Division I Championships. He is a 7-time gold medalist at the 2017 FINA World Championships in Budapest, and also won two gold medals in the relays at the 2016 Rio Olympic Games. He is widely expected to repeat his World Championship domination as the one to watch at the 2020 Tokyo Olympic Games.

Lochte is a multiple world-record holder in the relay and individual medley events whom has (in)famously made headlines around the world for both his swimming acumen and extra-curricular activities. Often discussed in the same breath as Michael Phelps, Lochte continues to train and compete following his suspension served after the Rio Games and will be offering world class performances right here in Vancouver.

Tickets for the meet are on sale now: and a special deal will be made for the home team for volunteering for 2 or more shifts. Stay tuned for details!
