Finally! Happy Spring! We still have many faces in the pool! And… kids are working hard in the water and out preparing for long course swimming.
So what is long course swimming? And… why are we still swimming?how does it help my swimmer? why only am practices?
I will explain ALL of the above, in a parent meeting next WEDNESDAY MAY 2nd AT 5:30-6:30 AT WEST LOBBY. I will have summer schedules, explain summer training and opportunities for the first 1/2 & then answer any questions you may have.
(Jrs., Jr .Elite and Seniors will all swim together that evening, From 5:30-6:30, put on dryland clothes and head to the YFC (youth family center) until 7:15 pm for teambuilding FUN! Please make sure they bring a water bottle too. If anyone wants to bring some fruit for after please do!
Summer aka Long course swimming:
Swim meet and summer practice schedule can be viewed under The TEAM and MEET and EVENTS tabs on our website.
Practice times and fees:
- Monthly summer programming fees are the same as they are for the other months.
- We only swim in JUNE and JULY-
- We switch from PM practices to a.m.s on June 13. Minis will swim with the development group in that first week and ½ (pm 4:30-5:30, mon-thurs and pick 2 nights) and continue as a combined group thru June and July.
For us to travel to meets and have it be cost effective, a minimum of 10 swimmers need to sign up for each meet posted, to make it valid for coaches time and travel.
If we don’t get the minimum, we can send those, who want to go, only approved by ME, and I will connect with another coach/team or the meet host. (This can be a topic of discussion in the fall for the 2018-19 season, if it is an issue again this summer. MY GOAL is having enough be interested so that it’s a non-issue also because summer swim meets ROCK!!)
*PCC meet-meet entries due by tomorrow. HOTEL value price will be available only until TODAY!
Our great and awesome Jrs. co-coach at Central Y, Meredith Cote, who is also an engineer, has a position that requires fieldwork. Whitney Miller will step into the Jrs. group and coach all Jr practices, going forward. Meredith will be at practice the week of the 7th to help guide and ease this transition. Meredith will still be around to help us in any spot that we need when she is available. We appreciate the commitment that Meredith has made this year to the Breakers- and I hope your swimmer appreciates her dedication and expertise!!
