Western Canadian Champs Gold!

After a great first day of racing we followed up with some great results days 2-4 at Western Canadian Champs, April 12-15.  We raced the boys 4x200 Free relay in the prelims placed 6th with another club record for Raine, Josh, Isaac and Chris. We had 3 A finals in the 100 Free - Josh Freund placed 4th in the 17 & over event with Raine Arden in 6th place. Isaac Fletcher was 7th in the 15 & under.  Finley Lothian swam a best time in the 100 Free prelims.  Isaac and Josh had about 4 minutes rest before the 50 back open (all age) final and placed 6th and 7th.  Chris Alexander was rested up and won gold in the 50 back with a lifetime best 27.17.  Graeme Godwin placed 2nd in the 17 & over B final in the 100 breast and Chris added a 4th n the 50 fly B final.

Day 3 Graeme placed 6th in the B final of the 50 Breast and Isaac was 4th in the B final of the 200 Back.  Chris placed 6th in the A final of the 200 Back and broke the oldest LASC Men's Open club record (2:10.49 Kevin Metrz 1994) with his 2:09.67.  Westerns also has mixed relay events and our team of Chris, Taryn Lachman, Raine and Finley raced to 31st of 57 teams in the 400 Mixed Medley Relay.

The final day of the meet added more good swims in the 50 Free and 200 IM.  Isaac won the B final for 15 & under and Josh added another 4th place sprint finish in the 17 & over group.  Raine followed Josh in 7th.  In the 200 IM, Isaac Fletcher, who was tied for 16th in the prelims moved up to 4th in the B final.

Well done LASC!
