2018 National Team Coaches to meet in Denver

St. Petersburg Aquatics head coach, Fred Lewis, has been invited to attend the United States Swimming National Team Coaches Seminar in Denver, Colorado.  The seminar, being held April 30 – May 1, is invitation-only and represent the 100 most successful coaches in America!

Coach Lewis is one of two Tampa Bay area coaches invited, the other being Dave Gesacion of Tampa Bay Aquatics.  Coach Lewis is currently a National Team coach with two St. Petersburg Aquatics swimmers, Robert Finke & Melanie Margalis, on the USA Swimming National Team.  Margalis represented St. Petersburg Aquatics and the United States at the 2016 Rio Olympics, winning gold on the Women’s 4 x 200 Free Relay and placing 4th in the Women’s 200 Individual Medley.

St. Petersburg Aquatics is excited and honored to have our team and Coach Lewis acknowledged at this upcoming National Team Coaches seminar!  The goal of this 2-day event will be to educate and update coaches on the various facets of high-level competitive swimming, including athlete development, health & wellness, and the latest technology.  Equipped with a fresh perspective, the hope is that these National Team Coaches will come back ready to enrich their swimmers’ training and racing, as well as help them achieve the ultimate goal of making the 2020 Olympic Team.
