Welcome Back to the Stonebridge Sharks 2018 - Registration is Now Open!

Welcome Back to the

Stonebridge Sharks 2018

-- Registration is Now Open --

Greetings from the Stonebridge Sharks 2018 Swim Team!  We are looking forward to another great summer of exciting Sharks swimming!

This email includes VERY IMPORTANT INFORMATION about the upcoming season, so please read carefully.  If you have questions about anything related to the season, please see the contact information at the bottom of this message.  We are ready and happy to help!

As in past years, we are using an online system on the Sharks website for registration.  Please go to www.stonebridgesharks.com within the next two weeks to register.   Returning families should use their last year’s email login address and password to register in order to avoid creating a new account.  If you are a new family (or a returning family, but have forgotten what email login you used last year), please follow the detailed instructions available by CLICKING HERE . Please contact Guihua Tian at gtian99@gmail.com if you have difficulty registering.

The Coaches and Board members will be available at the Sharks Open House on Thursday, May 17, 2018, from 6:30-8:00 at the Pool to assist anyone who is unable to complete the online registration process.

The cost of registration is going up slightly by $6 for regular team this year. This increase will cover about 2/3 cost for a team cap for every swimmer. The new team membership fee is $99 per swimmer for the regular team or $63 (no change) per swimmer for the pre-team.  Please Make checks payable to "Stonebridge Sharks" and bring them to the Open House or you can mail checks directly to Fawn Liu, Sharks Treasurer, after your online registration is complete by May 31.  Fawn’s address is: 14709 Botany Way, North Potomac, MD 20878.   After May 31 st deadline, the cost of registration for the regular team will increase to $105 per swimmer .

Please be aware that your family must be members of the Stonebridge Pool for your child to join the Sharks swim team.  Your child’s registration will not be finalized until the Stonebridge HOA has verified that your family’s pool membership is up to date.  If you have any questions regarding membership with the Stonebridge Pool, please send an email to Shireen Ambush with Abaris Real Estate, Inc at sambush@abarisrealty.com .

Summer swim team is only possible with the help of parent volunteers.  Parents MUST volunteer for a minimum of four (4) activities if you have one swimmer and at least six (6) activities if you have two or more swimmers competing in meets (held Wednesdays or Saturdays) PLEASE NOTE: If you do not sign up to volunteer for the required number of events over the course of the season, your child may not be able to swim at all meets.  All volunteer sign-ups are done online via the website.  All swim meet events have been added to the calendar, and you will be able to sign up to volunteer for each event on the website shortly.  Please look out for this message about that soon and thank you in advance for making the swim team possible – it is truly a volunteer effort!

Coaches will be on hand to provide an overview of the season and answer questions from parents.

Board members will be available to answer general questions, discuss volunteer requirements, and provide information about vacant board positions.

PLEASE NOTE: In case of inclement weather, we may have to reschedule the open house.  We will send an email message the day before to confirm.

We are very pleased to announce our coaches for the 2017 season.

The Stonebridge Sharks have been fortunate to have several wonderful sponsors over the past few years.  You can see them on the “Sponsors” link on the website.  We encourage all of our Sharks swimmers and families to support our sponsors through your patronage.

If you are interested in becoming a sponsor and raising awareness of your business, or if you would like to assist with identifying and soliciting potential sponsors, please contact Melanie Binder at 4binders@comcast.net .  Remember that sponsorship provides you access to hundreds of families from across Montgomery County.

On behalf of the entire Stonebridge Sharks Team, we want to thank all of the parents who stepped up and shared this responsibility last year.  We are asking more parents to support the team by becoming officials for the 2018 year.  Becoming certified is easy, and having more officials will make it easier for us to meet our officiating responsibilities during A and B meets.

As in previous years, we need help in all three categories (Stroke and Turn Judges, Starters, and Referees).  Stroke and Turn Judge is the starting point for becoming a Starter or Referee.  If you are currently certified as a Stroke and Turn Judge, please consider advancing to Starter or Referee.

The dates for the MCSL training sessions are listed on MCSL.  Here is the link for online registration:

These are excellent training sessions where you will learn a lot about the strokes the kids are swimming.  It really is fun to become a judge and it gives parents an opportunity to be more involved in the meets.

The Stonebridge Sharks Swim Team is always looking for parents who are interested in becoming a member of the Board so we can continue to provide a community swim team for our children.  This year, we have SEVERAL openings as well as Board members who will not be here next year.  Please review the board positions below to see if there is one that is a good match for your strengths and talents.  Contact any Board member regarding your interest as soon as possible so we can begin the summer with a full team.  PLEASE NOTE: serving as a Board member can reduce your volunteer requirements for the season.

We are here for you!  All of us on the swim team board are excited and committed to making this the best summer ever. If you have ANY questions whatsoever, please contact us at any time.  Thank you again!
