Special Olympics Opportunity

It's time to give back! The swimming community is reaching out for volunteers. Below is information to participate in a wonderful event. Our Para-Athletes are fantastic and love swimming as much as their able-bodied friends. NSAC stands for many things, one of them is community out-reach. Let's make sure John Hoffman and his staff have more than enough volunteers for such a very positive experience!

  • For those participating in the Hopkins Invite Saturday, May 19...you WILL have time to do both!!!

My name is John Hoffman, and I work as Equipment Room Staff at the University of Recreation & Wellness Center. I am also a Program Intern with Special Olympics Minnesota. By offering an opportunity for individuals with intellectual disabilities to engage in year-round sports training and competition, we create an inclusive community where all are accepted and welcomed! Volunteering and community participation help promote these athletic, health and leadership programs in an environment of equality, respect and acceptance.

Special Olympics is hosting an Area 13 Swimming Competition at Centennial High School in Lino Lakes4757 North Road, Circle Pines, MN 55014. We are in need of timers, a stroke judge and Staging/Escort volunteers responsible for getting athletes in a heat to their correct lanes and escorting them to the awards station after they race. Shifts are typically between 3-5 hours, and you can register online by following the link on our volunteer page: https://www.cervistech.com/acts/console.php?console_id=0101&console_type=event_list&res_code=BuVOBA&ht=1 This is a great opportunity to get involved with Special Olympics and give back to the community. I greatly appreciate your time, and please let me know if you have any questions!
