Marlins Open Long Course Season in Wichita

17 competition-hungry Marlins swimmers opened our 2018 Serious Season (Long Course) in Wichita this past weekend @ The 2018 OZ Classic. Many fine performances were turned in @ this very early season training meet. A few of our swimmers even turned-in lifetime best performances for any course.

Renee Drayton was named our Manhattan Marlins Swimmer of the Meet with a collection of fast swims, as a 10 year old, in the 12 & Under Division. Her 1:20.21 100M Free (A Time), as well as her 3:21.49 200M Back, stand out as her finest performances.

6 year old Bella Romar captured team honors as our Manhattan Marlins Most Improved Swimmer. Posting meter times equal to her yard times in nearly every event, Bella continued to show the promise that will one day lead her to the top of the swimming Romars!

There were many other fine swims that caught the eye, too. Mitchell Bunger dropped a bunch of time on the way to  his 1:38.98 100M Breast. Will Graves posted a lifetime best performance in the 200M IM - 3:07.69. LJ Romar lowered her best ever 100M Breast (which was already a very fast time in yards - 1:33.74) to an even faster 1:43.32. Max Steffensmeier smoked a 400M Free in 5:45.54. And his sister, Sophia, posted a lifetime best 400M IM - 6:02.92.

Be certain to view all of our post-meet reports in our Events tab, under the Performance Reports heading. (They are also permanently available in the Events Archive under the meet by that name. Just enter the meet dates to Search.)

Go Marlins!
