Great job everyone on hosting such a successful meet. The swimmers swam great and the parents contributed to running a smooth meet.
Derek Halas, Christopher Guidi, Kyle Wong and Casey Wakashige swam great in everything but especially in their 800’s.
Everyone else was solid in most swims and everyone did something special.
Our goal as a group was to do something exciting this weekend as we get used to LC competition. As a group we did that.
For our first long course it went very well with a great understanding of what long course meters means as a race. From group 2 distinct effort for all off her races but definitely for her 50m butterfly for the 10 and under years old with the time of 46:18 was Lily Tang. Lily had a very strong meet and she was a great example to the whole group. From Group 3 was Jalen Vuong for his 50m freestyle for the 11-12 years old with the time of 34:56 which is a new BB time.
It was a great weekend to start our long course meet. The sun was out and the kids were excited to race. All of my groups did exceptionally well. Sabrina and Veronica from my novice group showed excellent technique in their 50 backstroke race. They both achieved times by over four seconds. Jacob Sutton showed up to 50 freestyle ready to compete. He did an excellent job and aggressively attacked the race. Jasmine Carlos from my junior development group competed in her first 200 breaststroke. She took all her nerves and turned it into energy to keep progressing through her race. Michale Leung had excellent technique in his 50 and 100 freestyle races. Let’s keep working on balance and technique for our next meet and the swimmers will be unstoppable.
Age Group 1 had some great swims in their first long course meet of the season. We had some swimmers who had never swam long course before this weekend. They did a great job with the long pool and swam great. Allan Velliste had five races and four lifetime best times.
The Pre-Seniors also did a nice job in their first long course meet. I saw a lot of swimmers taking risks and swimming to learn and improve. It’s easy to just race the way you always have and not make any changes. This group is engaged in the process of doing things better and it showed in their swims.
Ava Tseng swam best times in all of her races and was close to JOs in a couple of her swims. Darrell Liu swam a Far Western time in his 100 Backstroke.
SR Development and Varsity
Great meet for both groups. It always helps to swim fast when the meet is so well run, thank you parents.
SR Development had over 70% Life Time Best (LTB) for the weekend, this is very good considering that they just had a meet two weeks ago. They have done a great job of focusing on make improvements and learning how to race long course.
