Jessica Deglau Invitational Recap

Best time poster from Jessica Deglau Invitational! Looks like it was a successful meet!

On the weekend of April 21st and 22nd, a group of swimmers from the Junior and Youth programs attended the Jessica Deglau Invitational at the new UBC Aquatic Centre. For a lot of the swimmers this was the first Long Course meet of the year, and maybe even the first time they had seen a 50 meter pool.  All the swimmers did an awesome job, and all the coaches are excited to see the swimmers build off their successes in the upcoming meets.

Kelly Qi had a breakout meet, kicking off the Long Course season with 5 club records, 2 event wins, 8 event finals, as well as won the 11 and Under Girls IM Challenge Award.  Maddy Cowie was another breakthrough performer, putting together an amazing 200 Backstroke, qualifying her for the event final! Anastasia Cimiliuc kicked off her long course season with best times in all 6 of her events, putting together some of her best performances of the year. Ethan Kim, Edison Liu, Alex Guo, India Povey, Ruby Van Buskirk, Daniel Wang, Vicky Zhang, Charles Zheng, Sophia Howie, Maddy Cowie, Raymond Zou, Sergey Chernomorchenko, and Ray Cao were also 100% best times, and joined Anastasia with an almost perfect meet!

Congratulations also need to go out to Oliver Allen, Carys Embley, Burak Ersan, Elina Huang, William Huang, Rodion Iasinskyi, Justin Jiang, Edison Liu, Madeleine Olver, Quinn Snead, Josephine Soti, Denys Tymchuk, Vic Wang, Renee Weng, Matthew Wu, Paul Xu, Molly Zhang, Elaine Zhou, Laura Zou, who all competed in the 50 meter pool for the first time! A lot of the swimmers walked into the building seeing a 50 meter pool for the first time, but attacked each race with confidence, impressing all the coaches!

Keep up the good work PSW!
