Amberly Anacondas Coach in Training Program!

The CIT (coach in training) program is new to the Amberly Anacondas this season! CITs are members of the team who are 13 and over and are looking to take on some volunteer coaching duties at practices and meets. This is a great way to earn volunteer hours, take on a leadership role, and support the team!  All registered swimmers who are at least 13 and who have at least one season of experience with the team are welcome to apply.

CITs must be responsible, mature, show good sportsmanship and leadership skills.  Volunteering as a CIT is a fantastic way to aquire coaching skills necessary to be able to move into roles as a Jr and Assistant coach for our team. The time committment is about 5 hours per week.  CIT's will be scheduled to assist at 1-2 practices per week (coaching kids 12 and under) in addition to assisting at the Meets.

Practice Duties may include:
  • Leading stretches and exercises on the pool deck
  • Taking attendance
  • Assist swimmers in the water and those working with a small group on specific skills and strokes
  • Assist on deck with traffic flow and directing swimmers to dryland stations and swimming lanes
  • Provide feedback and nominations for "Swimmer of the Week" recognition to coaching staff
Meet Duties may include:
  • Assisting with "inking" swimmers with their numbers at check in and events before the meet begins
  • Rounding up swimmers to be recognized as "Swimmer of the Week" during announcements before the meet
  • Working with an assigned lane to organize kid catchers for 6 & under swimmer events and 7-8 backstroke crash boards
  • Putting out the 6 & under rope at home meets
  • Leading a post-meet handshake with our competitors
To apply, please contact Board Member Ann McCann via email at annemccann@yahoo.com or via text message at 617-584-2203.  She will forward you the application form and schedule a brief 15 minute interview.  Interviews will run Saturday, May 5th from 9:30am-12:30pm at the Amberly Clubhouse.

We look forward to a fantastic 2018 Season!
