Dear HCY Swimmers & Families,

I hope you all are having a great week. Spring fever has officially set in, and I couldn’t more grateful.

One of the best parts of my week:

Kristen and I had the privilege of sitting down with one of our groups to have a discussion, and among other things, I asked:

“Do you believe- truly- that we as coaches care about you?”

Without hesitation, the answer…

I can say as many things as I would like about practice, the season, myself, our coaches, but in the end--- that is all that matters. It was incredibly special and important for us to hear that.

Please Save The Date for a Team Picnic to be held on Friday, May 18. There will be more details to follow, but for now, there are three important notes:

1: It will be BYO Picnic.

2: There will be no practice that evening.

3: I have agreed (and am attempting to wrangle in other coaches) to swim a 400IM that evening to share in the discomfort with our swimmers who are swimming it the next day at the meet—and prove to them if I can do it…THEY CAN DO IT. So feel free to come and join in the sideshow act that will be that “fun situation” before our picnic.

Our entries have been accepted for the SVY Long Course Cup, and I have attached the entry report. Please note that this meet had cut times that were faster than even we expected, so we were unfortunately unable to enter every swimmer that committed to the meet. We are looking to possibly add another Long Course meet to our schedule to give our swimmers more opportunities to get in the water and compete. We thank you for your understanding, and as always- please reach out to me with any questions or concerns.

A quick reminder to anyone who swam with the team for the Fall/Winter 2017-2018 Season, and did not attend the Annual Banquet:

You have a personalized team towel waiting for you! You can pick it up the next time you are at the   Deer Path Y. Please remind your coach at the end of practice so they can accommodate you.

I just wanted to take a moment to thank and recognize Coach Kristen for all of the above and beyond work with the Senior 1&2 Goal Posters, Pool Rope building, Vertical Kick Buckets, and all of the other new ‘toys’ and items the kids have benefited from.

---Your dedication is not only noted by your peers, the swimmers, and the parents. You have a passion for this sport and these kids that is tangible.

Thank you.
