Mark Olson Highlights

A big thank you to all of those who volunteered to make this past weekend’s Mark Olson Classic another huge success! Nearly 600 athletes from 14 teams participated in the meet. This could not have been done without the help of the countless volunteers and hours put into the preparation, execution, and clean-up of the meet. As the Head Coach of UPAC, I have never been more proud of a group I have worked with than I am with the collective and extended UPAC family. Based on previous meets we have hosted, our volunteer core has set a very high bar on the quality of event we conduct and we seem to surpass those expectations every meet we host. Amazing job everybody!

For the first time in club history, over 100 UPAC athletes participated in the meet; all the way from ages 7 through 18. Despite being early in the season, the team collectively put on an AMAZING performance, doubling up point-wise on the second place team on the scoreboard. Most important, swimmers and coaches were having a great time on deck. UPAC’s all-around performance at the Mark Olson Classic exemplified all the great qualities that competitive youth athletics has to offer.

The team had several event winners, new championship qualifiers, first time swimmers, and too many personal best times to count. An individual improvement report and complete meet results are attached. Below are the highlights of the meet:

Trenton Bemis achieved his first ever individual 14&Under PNS Championship qualifying time in the Boys 11 year old 200 Backstroke. 14&Under Champs is the highest level of Age Group meet exclusive to swimmers in Pacific Northwest Swimming. Congratulations Trent!
