It's hard to believe that summer is practically here. The Spring has been loaded with water polo for all our athletes of all ages. So there's lots of great news to share and a bunch about our plans for the next several months.
AQTX at TAGS
Last Sunday all six of our youth boys the boys joined at least one of Longhorn's middle school teams at the Texas Age Group Championships (TAGS). Our 6th graders, Joey, Declan, Austin, Brandon, and Luca, beat Austin (including a bunch of Viper Pigeons) in their last game after facing some strong competitors from all over Texas. Our newest players, Declan and Austin, caught the scoring fever, putting away some key goals throughout the tournament. Brandon was our Swiss Army knife playing the field and goalie, Luca put his increasingly strong left arm to use with some laser goals, and Joey scored as well while improving his defense yet again.

Riley (our defensive stopper) and Brandon both played for the much smaller 8th grade team and got tons of playing time against stronger, older opponents. Both teams finished seventh and provided the boys with a huge amount of experience against Texas' best.

AquaTex and Junior Olympics
Our 12u boys Junior Olympic qualifying team is picking up speed. Six (!) of our boys are taking part and will lead the Longhorn team next at Zone Championships in June where they'll vie for a spot at JOs. Players from Longhorn and Zilla are slated to join the squad too.

Longhorn is still looking for 18u athletes interested in a trip to Cali too. Check out our JOs events pages for lots of info for all age groups.

Callie and Delaney Scott and Jack Hansen each were given first team All-region honors, while Lucy Moran made the second team. Her Westwood HS girls placed fourth overall, while Round Rock girls earned their fourth regional championship in five years. Jack and his Dragon teammates placed third. All of them are headed to State Championships in Austin, May 4-5. Congratulations to all our current and former players (there are 10 of them!) who made All-Region teams.

Lone Star League Spring Champs
AquaTex hosted the Spring Lone Star League Championships on April 22. The short-handed boys outscored their 6th grade opponents handily in their first game and played Longhorn close in their second. The 8th grade team (no player older than 7th grade) did a great job against their older opponents from Longhorn and Zilla. Both teams finished fourth with some very improved performances from all the boys.
