Hello Rice Families,
With many emotions, we’re happy to announce that Coach Amanda has been named the head coach at Georgia Southern University. This is something Amanda has been working toward for quite some time and has put in countless hours preparing for this opportunity, many of which out of her comfort zone to grow into the model coach she has become. Consequently, this summer will also be Coach Beau’s last summer at RICE.
You can read up on the press release here. Side stat - only 12% of division 1 head swimming coaches are women.
To say thank you to Coach Amanda for her time at RICE would not be enough. Coach Amanda has worn many hats around Rice pool deck. In addition to her role as the assistant coach for the women’s team, she has served the rice aquatics meet director and entry chair and served as one of our favorite master’s coaches. She has even moonlighted as a club coach at one point when coach Mike was touring Europe. We will certainly miss her passion, expertise, attention to detail, and contagiously cheerful demeanor.
We wish Amanda and Beau nothing but the best in this new chapter of their lives and very much appreciate their time here at RICE.
