Things are about to get moving with the Summer 2018 meet season. If you are interested in swimming in meets this summer, NOW is the time to register for Swim Ithaca. Meets start in mid-May and go thru July. Summer meets are pretty low-key and lots of fun, two are outdoors! The summer meet season is a great time for varsity high school swimmers to gain competitive experience that will help them in the high school season.
On Saturday, May 12 the Southern Tier Swim League (STSL) meet schedule will be finalized and will be posted at swimithaca.org. There will probably be four meets plus the STSL Champs which will most likely be held Saturday, July 29. Last year's STSL meet dates were June 3, Jun 17, June 28, and July 8 and this summer's will most likely be similar.
Entries are due May 11 for our first meet, the Niagara LC Super Circuit in Webster on Saturday May 19. This is a long course meet (50 meter pool) and is good for everyone on our team who can complete the events long course (read the meet announcement for details).
If you are interested in attending the Colgate Classic in Hamilton on Saturday, June 9 and Sunday, June 10, you can sign up now for that meet. You can attend either day or both. Lodging is available on campus, make your reservation NOW as it will sell out.
Unfortunately, the open water swim we have attended in past years is not happening this summer, we are going to have a team picnic instead; details will be announced when finalized. We are also fortunate to have the Syracuse Chargers hosting a couple meets at Ithaca College this summer, these well-run meets are easy to attend!
We had a great mini-meet last Friday at the practice and are looking forward to a fun summer of swimming. Go Swim Ithaca! As always, if you have any questions about your swimmer and meets, please ask!
