The registration fee for SAA will increase to $75 on May 1st. This amount will go toward your fundraising total

We have a spirit night Thursday, May 10th at American Pie from  5pm to 9pm

Our Bluefin swim family has been involved with Swim Across America for the past several years to raise money for cancer research and clinical trials.  Our team is named ?Team Parker? in honor of Parker Solberg, a senior swimmer.  Parker has a brain tumor and is a patient at Children?s Heathcare of Atlanta.
All money raised in the open water swim at Lake Lanier is donated to the AFLAC Cancer Center at Children?s Healthcare of Atlanta.  Our Bluefin swim family raised over $30,000 last year through spirit nights, personal fundraising, and fundraising events.
We would like to invite your child to be a part of Swim Across America.  The open water swim will be held at Lake Lanier on Saturday, September 22nd.  It is a fun event in which current and former Olympians attend and participate.  There are events for swimmers of all abilities and angel swimmers (an Olympian or a strong swimmer) are available to accompany any swimmer during their time in the lake.

Swim Across America events your child may participate in:

  • We have multiple spirit nights and fundraising opportunities planned to help all swimmers meet their fundraising goals.  These activities and events will be published in the next few weeks.
Other ways you can participate:

To sign your swimmer up for a swim meet, there are two steps to complete the process.
1. Visit the Carrollton Bluefins website and scroll to the bottom of the homepage. There you will see an 'Events' section. All of the upcoming meets will be listed there with the dates of the meet. If you click on the name of the meet, you will see more information regarding the meet such as eligibility, fees, etc. At the top of that page, you will see a button that says 'Attend/Decline'. This is where you will tell us that your swimmer will be participating. If the events are available, you will be able to select the events that your swimmer wishes to swim. There is a 'Notes' section on this page where you will be able to leave comments for the coaches such as what days the swimmer will attend, or concerns that you or your swimmer has.

2. The second step of this process is to pay for this meet through CPRCAD.org. You may do this by paying online, over the phone, or at the main office.

*Please be aware of the deadlines listed. In order give you as much time as possible to sign up, we make the deadline the day that we must turn the entries into the host team. We will no longer be able to accept any entries, so both the Bluefin website and CPRCAD website will end sign-ups at that time. Please be sure to plan accordingly and notify your swimmer's coach of any issues well in advance.

How to Be the Hardest Working Swimmer in the Pool

Everyone wants to be great. Everyone wants to win a medal or a trophy for the glory. But not
everyone wants to work for it. Hard work isn?t easy. It?s easier to try less than to try hard. Hard
work is completely up to you. You set your own standards. How much do you want to be
successful? Being consistent with practices and with effort can easily give you good results.
Stop avoiding the thing you know you need to be doing. Give a 9 out of 10 effort at every
practice. Another thing hard work does to swimmers is it can make you mentally stronger.
Everyone has gotten the pre-race anxiety. Being unafraid of challenging races can easily lead to
a successful swims! Lastly, it generally makes you a faster swimmer. Hard work leads to
faster times. Swimming is a sport based on how well you push yourself and it is up to you how
you choose to train. Make the decision to work hard and leave your personal bests in the
rear-view mirror!

*Please be aware of the deadlines listed. In order give you as much time as possible to sign up, we make the deadline the day that we must turn the entries into the host team.

  • We have multiple spirit nights and fundraising opportunities planned to help all swimmers meet their fundraising goals.  These activities and events will be published in the next few weeks.
Other ways you can participate:
If you do not wish for your child to swim at the Swim Across America open water swim, but would still like to be a part of our team, you can help in the following ways:

Quote of the week

If it is important to you, you will find a way.  If not, you will find an excuse.

Meet Sign-Up Instructions

Information to know about Swim Across America:
  • Swim Across America is a non-profit organzation that brings awareness to, and raises money for, cancer research and clinical trials.  Over $75 million in SAA grants have turned into an estimated $200 million in new funding for research.  Lives are being saved through Swim Across America.
  • 18 open water events, as well as 24 states particpiating with pool swims, raise money and awareness for cancer research.
The Atlanta opepn water swim will be held on September 22nd at Lake Lanier.  Our team page can be found here.
How do I register?
To register, please visit swimacrossamerica.org/atlanta.  We will also have representatives at our pool over the next few weeks to help register swimmers.
Swim Across America events your child may participate in:
  • 1/2 mile swim, 1 mile swim, 5K swim, 2 mile relay team (1/2 loop for up to 4 swimmers), or Duck Splash (a short swim/float in very shallow water).
Fundraising requirements
  • All events have a $50 registration fee ($75 after April 1st) that will go toward your child?s fundraising goal.  All events other than the Duck Splash have a $200 fundraising minimum.  The Duck Splash does not have a minimum fundraising amount.
  • Participate in a fundraiser or allow your child to partner with a swimmer and fundraise or donate in a swimmer?s honor.
  • Share social media posts about upcoming events/fundraisers
  • Purchase a Team Parker Swim Across America t-shirt
  • Register as a volunteer or help on the day of an event
  • Suggest businesses in the community that may be willing to sponsor or donate to our team.
Please contact Kristi Solberg at 770-301-7360 for any questions.  We hope to have all our swim team family with us.

Every Thursday (unless stated otherwise) we will have Water Polo practice from 6 pm to 7:30 pm for 11 and older.  You must attend 2 normal practices a week to participate.
