Blue Wave Swim Schedule - Summer 2018

Dear Blue Wave Families,

We are fast approaching the summer season. In an earlier post, I outlined the training options for all of our groups.  Please click the link below if you want to review those scheduled time:

Summer Non Camp Training Schedule

In addition to the traditional training options, we will offer a summer long swim camp options for swimmers in all level training groups. Participating in the camp is optional, but highly recommended.

I have been successfully running summer camps with my swimmers for decades. They have been the cornerstone of my programs’ successes. They give the staff all the contact hours needed to ensure that our swimmers have the knowledge, skills and attitudes to meet or exceed their goals.

Long ago, the older kids lovingly renamed our program, “Death Camp”. While the program is intense, it offers much value. The classroom sessions, video analysis and technical work all enhance the hard training. In and out of the pool.

This year, we will offer a modified version for younger or newer swimmers. It's called the recreational Surf & Turf Swim Camp.  We will work on many of the same technical items as the traditional camp, but we will also introduce other fun in and out of the water water sports and activities such as water polo, fin swimming, diving, underwater hockey and more. Those options are listed in the typical day outlined below as “Rotating Activity”. We want our participants to gain exposure in a variety of competitive aquatic activities. It will keep them active, engaged and having fun; all while ensuring their lungs are full and their hearts are pumping!

The camps will run in a formal manner for six (6) weeks. Each week will have a main focus, but many topics will be introduced. The first official day of camp will be Monday, June 4th. Weekly focuses include each of the competitive strokes (one per week) and a week dedicated to starts, turns & finishes. The last week will be individualized so each camper can maximize his or her experience. Even though some participants may be participating in competitions, the last day of formal camp will be Friday, July 13th.

The camps will meet Mondays through Fridays, except for days when we have swim meets. They are designed so weather will have less of an impact on the swimmers training as the camps are both completed by 2:00pm each day. The early release allows for the swimmers to enjoy time away from the pool all summer long as well.

We will offer an after camp program for those swimmers who need that option. Email me if you want more information on that option.

I believe in this program so much that I make it as affordable as possible. A week at most swim camps runs $800 on average. At $150 a week, our six (6) week program would cost about the same as one week away. That is not including the travel and other ancillary costs involved with away swim camps.

We had a great turn out for camp last summer. This year, we want to make it even more accessible. We have added the flexibility of participating individual weeks. That said, we still feel that the whole summer is the right choice for those striving to make large gains over the summer. The new Flex Plans are as follows:

  • Full Six (6) weeks - $495 ($82.50 a week)
  • Any Three (3) or More Weeks - $99 per week
  • One (1) or Two (2) Weeks - $150 per week.

The cost for non Blue Wave swimmers is $495.00 per week or $2,495 for the entire six (6) weeks.

The pricing structure takes into account that families may go away for a few days or a week for vacation. Choose the option that works best for your situation. Thanks in advance for understanding this reality.
