New Information

Coach Amy’s Comments:

Hello CGAC families! I hope that everyone has had the chance to enjoy the nice weather. We are looking forward to the start of long course meets and the end of school. Here is the information that you need to know this week:

1.) USA Swimming Club Recognition: We have received some exciting news from USA Swimming. We are very proud to announce that CGAC has earned USA Swimming Level 1 Club Recognition! What does this mean?  The team is working on getting stronger and more stable in all aspects:

Business & Organization Success
Parent & Volunteer Development
Coach Development & Education
Athlete Development & Performance

Only 13 clubs out 122 in the State of Indiana have earned Level 1 recognition, with CGAC becoming the 4th swim club in the south Indy/Johnson County/Morgan County area to be awarded this rating. Congratulations to all of our coaches, board members, parents, swimmers and volunteers for your part in making this happen. I want to send a shout out and HUGE THANK YOU to Lena Roby for all of her hard work in making this happen! She has spent countless hours collecting documents and data and communicating with USA Swimming to work on this. I also want to thank all of you for your countless volunteer hours and unwavering support of our program. Let's keep this momentum going and have a great long course season!

2.) FINAL FAST Entries: These have been sent out and are also posted on the bulletin board at the end of the pool.

3.) SSC Meet: The RSVP for this meet has closed. This meet was only open to Black, Pre-Senior and Senior teams. If your swimmer is not on one of those practice groups, they will not be entered in the meet. Initial entries will be sent out for review on Saturday.

4.) SCSC 12& Under Meet: The RSVP for this meet has also closed. This meet was only open to White, Red and Black. If your swimmer is not on one of those practice groups, they will not be entered in the meet. Also, Black team swimmers who are competing in the SSC meet are not to attend this meet (unless cleared by the coach). Initial entries will be sent out for review on Saturday.

5.) RSVP for TN: The RSVP for the EXCEL Firecracker 500 closes on May 25th. There will be NO additions once the RSVP closes. Please see the website for further details.

As always, please let us know if you have any questions.  See you at the pool!

New Swimmer CGAC Shirt/Cap – Every new swimmer gets a CGAC t-shirt and swim cap (which is included with your registration).  Tomorrow evening from 5:30-6:30 you can pick yours up in the spirit wear room.  You will want to get it before the first meet of the season!  If you have any questions, email Valerie Johnson at teamapparel@cgacswim.org.

New Parent Meeting – New Parent Meeting will be held TODAY, May 8th at 5:15 PM in the library at CGHS.  This meeting is for families new to the club this summer. This meeting will fulfill the volunteer requirement for the season. If you are a new family and are unable to attend, please contact Colleen Mitchell at parentmentor@cgacswim.org.

Stars & Stripes Meet - We are starting to prepare for our summer home meet on July 17th! Volunteer sign-ups will open in early June. We are starting now to fill some of the spots that require trained volunteers. If you have been trained and want to work at the meet, please contact Kim Ferguson at meetcoordinator@cgacswim.org. Gift card sign-ups will not open until all volunteer spots have been filled for the meet.

CGAC H.E.A.R.T. Swimmer of the Month - CGAC is excited to start a "CGAC H.E.A.R.T. Swimmer of the Month" program.  This program will feature a swimmer from each of our competitive training teams that embodies the core values of our Club in and out of the pool, at practice and competition.  HEART recipients will exhibit the following characteristics:

Humble

Empathetic

Attitude is Positive

Respectful

Team player

Look for the first Swimmers of the Month to be announced in the newsletter next week and featured at the pool.

Tennessee Meet Hotel Block - Our travel meet to Brentwood, Tennessee, the Excel Firecracker Invite, is coming up June 22-24.  The link to the CGAC block of rooms at the Hilton Garden Inn Nashville/Franklin Cool Springs is HERE.  The room rate is $155.00 per night plus tax and this includes breakfast.  The block of rooms are only available until June 7th or when the group block is sold out (whichever comes first).

Swim Lessons- . Registration and sign-ups for our upcoming summer swim lessons sessions will open this Monday, May 14th, 2018.  Check here for more information.

Summer Sharks & Minnows: Our sharks & minnows program will begin on June 5th for the first day of practice.  All swimmers joining sharks & minnows will need to be evaluated by CGAC coaching staff prior to joining.  This Monday, May 14th, we will hold an open evaluation/tryout from 5pm-6pm at CGHS pool. Tell your friends and neighbors and visit our team website here for more information.

Ongoing Updates & Reminders

Meet Packet/Meet Announcements: All meet packets have been uploaded for all of our swim meets scheduled for this long course season. Reading the meet packet is very important to find key information regarding the meet our swimmers attend and compete.  If you click on each meet link in the 'EVENTS' section at the bottom of our team website, you can view all of the meet information, including warm ups, entry requirements, parking info, admission prices, map to the pool and other information.  Our CGAC home meet for 12 & Under Stars and Stripes will be uploaded soon. Meet packets for the Championships meets: Divisionals, Senior State, and Age Group State will be uploaded later in the summer.

RSVP dates for each meet: For each meet we have on our schedule, you will notice there is a RSVP deadline date.  These dates are important because some meets fill up quickly.  Our coaching staff need to know as soon as possible who is attending and who is not attending the meet. Sometimes, the entry deadline has passed and it is too late to rsvp your swimmer. If you know that your swimmer might want to swim a meet, rsvp right away. Read your emails from coaches about RSVP and meet entries. Putting together a line up for meet (especially if there are relays) is challenging and if there are last minute changes to the swimmer entries, it makes it hard for our coaches and costs extra money for the club.
