Final Preseason Notes

Good Evening Blue Marlins-

One final email before the season starts to get everyone caught up. There as been a flurry of activity across the league and I want to make sure you get all the details from me, but you get key dates first!

This Saturday from 9:00 am to Noon is our final walkup registration event and opportunity to pay in person at the Bay Forest pool. We will have paper and online registration available, and will accept cash, checks, or credit cards. You can also pre-order our throwback 2018 t-shirts commemorating our 45th year of swimming- they are awesome! The Luke and the rest of the 2018 coaches will be there to meet and greet everyone at 10:00 am.

Practice starts at the Bay Forest pool Monday, May 7th, with the following age group stagger:

Age 10 & Under - 4:30 - 5:30 pm

Age 15 - 18 - 5:15 - 7:15 pm

Age 11 - 14 - 6:00 - 7:30 pm

Over the course of the first week coaches will evaluate swimmers and move them into their appropriate skill group. As always, we want swimmers to practice as much as possible and will be as flexible as we can on practice times.

Now, on to the rumors…one of the CCSL teams, the Pineloch Piranhas, has decided to sit out the 2018 season. We have welcomed their swimmers and parents with open arms. We were in dire straits last year and felt compelled to help our neighbors in any way possible. To that end, we've done a couple things to help ease their transition. First, we created a unique 1 season board position for their president, Christina Shaw, to make sure our new families are represented in decisions. Secondly, we are in the process of hiring their Head Coach, Keele Steglich, to help with training. We felt like their families, and ours, would benefit from the familiarity. If you know any of the Piranha families encourage them to come to the Blue Side!

We had a swimsuit fitting and sales last weekend at the pool. I am trying to get another date with the vendor since we’ve had quite a few registrations since. In the meantime, AGleam has offered to bring our suits to other dates in the area. She just needs to know you are coming the day before so she can pack suits (Sheila Lawshe, these are the dates:

May 8   @ Laporte       4:30-7:00

May 11 @ Pinebrook   4:30-7:00

May 15 @ Dickinson    4:00-7:00

May 16 @ Seabrook    3:30-7:00

We are looking forward to another great season of swimming and community. The board and volunteers have been hard at work so things are finally coming online and we will be ready. Thank all of you for your continuing support.

Please feel free to forward this email to any families that may want to join the Brooks Blue Marlins.

Thanks again for all the support, and let me know what we can do to improve-
