Your weekly Cascade Swim Club updates
From the Office:
Thank you to everyone who has participated in our team survey! The survey closes on Friday, May 18, so if you haven't had a chance to complete the parent or swimmer survey, please take a few minutes to do so now!
Please note that there are two separate surveys this year. One survey is for parents to complete and one is for your swimmer(s) to complete. Please be aware that if you have more than one swimmer with the team, you will be asked to complete a portion of the parent survey for each swimmer. Instructions will be provided within the parent survey for how to do this.
All swimmers are encouraged to complete the short swimmer survey, regardless of age or swim level. Thank you for sharing your feedback so we can all work to make our team a great place for swimmers and families!

Safe Sport Mondays
As part of Cascade’s commitment to USA Swimming’s Safe Sport program, we frequently receive and share updates and training scenarios that are important for coaches, swimmers, and parents to be mindful of. Below is the latest update from USA Swimming:
The first scenario was created earlier this year, but bullying
is still happening as we speak. Not just on the pool deck,
locker rooms, but outside practice and in schools. This link is to
a video produced by Burger King and the attached letter offers
questions to contemplate. It is a valuable tool for
Please be aware of what is entailed in bullying and our No
Bullying Permitted policies for Safe Sport. This is an excellent
source of what is considered bullying and how to address it at a
club level. There is more material on the USA Swimming website

AG 1 &2 – 9:30-11:00am
AG3 – 10:00-11:00am
Meet & Greet with Coach Derek Young, Saturday, May
Join us for a brief meet & greet with new AG1 coach Derek Young. We’ll gather on the bleachers at Madison Pool, 10:30-10:50 or so.
Transition to Seniors - Parent Meeting
Join us for a parent info session for transitioning and soon-to-be senior swimmers on Saturday, May 26 at Colman Pool, starting at 10:30am. This meeting is intended to give parents some insight on what to expect as their swimmer moves to the senior program. Parents with current senior swimmers are also welcome to attend.
Saturdays at Colman Pool
We are excited to begin Saturday practices
at Colman Pool starting Saturday, May
26! If you have never been to Colman pool, it is a
jewel located in West Seattle’s Lincoln Park! Outdoor,
50 meters, right on Puget Sound with glass windows on the west
side of the pool to look at the passing ships &
water, and forested on the east side. Here is a link to the
facility info: https://www.seattle.gov/parks/find/pools/colman-pool.
Please plan to arrive early as you will have to walk about 15 minutes to get to the pool from upper parking lots along Fauntleroy Way SW; there is no parking area next to the pool. Please check park maps for the correct route. Maps are located at the trailhead sign near the parking lot, or some can be viewed online in advance here ( http://www.seattle.gov//Documents/Departments/ParksAndRecreation/Reserve/Picnic/Lincoln1-4.pdf) or here ( http://www.willhiteweb.com/puget_sound_hiking/lincoln_park/hiking_trails_152.htm).
Please try to carpool as parking can be limited on sunny days and when events are happening throughout the park and at the pool. This pool has filtered, heated water from Puget Sound so it is salty! To cut the salty taste in swimmers' mouths a flavored beverage is recommended, such as diluted lemonade, sport hydration drinks, etc. Water is fine, but swimmers just seem to be happier with a flavor to wash it down. This is a great park to take a jog in, walk the dog in, read a book with a cup of coffee in, a real highlight to summer swimming! Remember, the training group schedule on Saturdays at Colman is as follows:
Seniors, Sr. Development and HS development: 8:00–10:30am
AG I: 10:00-11:30am
AG II: 10:00–11:30am
AG III: 10:30–11:30am
The entire summer training schedule can be found at the CSC website: https://www.teamunify.com/SubTabGeneric.jsp?team=pnscsc&_stabid_=183580
Please note the upcoming no practice/closure dates at each pool. Pool closure dates are located in the Calendar tab and also in the “ Pool Closures” dropdown on the team website.
Aqua Club – Saturday, May 19 is the last
day of practices for the season. AC will reopen to CSC swimmers in
Shoreline – closed May 28 for Memorial Day.
