SN Swimmer & Coach selected to USA Swimming International Meet!

Sierra Nevada Swimming is pleased to recognize two of its very own for being selected to attend the 55th Mel Zajac Jr. International Meet in Vancover, BC, Canada.  Top ranked age group swimmer, Luca Urlando and his coach, Billy Doughty (DART @ Davis) will represent the Red, White & Blue June 1-3, 2018.  Please read the press release below for more information.  Congratulations to both Luca and Billy and GO USA!

USA Swimming is sending some of the brightest rising young stars to gain valuable international competition experience at the Mel Zajac Jr. International Swim Meet.

Making their international debut, 14 members of USA Swimming’s World 100 List are scheduled to compete at the 2018 Mel Zajac Jr. International Swim Meet, slated for June 1-3 on the campus of the University of British Columbia in Vancouver.

To be eligible for the roster athletes must appear on the World 100 (or National Junior Team), currently be in high school and have never previously represented the United States in international competition. This group will follow in the footsteps of Team USA Olympians Maya DiRadoMissy FranklinMolly HannisMelaine Margalis and Tom Shields, who competed at Mel Zajac as juniors.

Included on this USA team is DART swimmer Luca Urlando.  Luca will head to Vancouver to compete in the 200 Fly, 100 Fly, 200 IM and a couple more events.  


Also heading to Vancouver is Head DART Coach Billy Doughty.  Billy was selected as an Assistant Coach for the United States team.  This will be Coach Billy’s first International coaching opportunity for TEAM USA.
