SSC Sizzler Recap
As the summer heats up, so do the performances by WTSC swimmers, the latest coming over the weekend at the SSC Summer Sizzler. An updated Honor Roll is posted at the pool and on the club website but several performances deserve shout-outs. Dean Papachronis (50 Breast) and Will Ruschhaupt (50 Free, 100 Breast) made the first Divisional cuts of their careers at the Sizzler, while Sammy Wolfe added his name to the Honor Roll for the first time this season with Divisional cuts in the 50 & 100 Free. Samantha Houchens (200 Fly) and Lillian Tabor (200 Free) add to their Divisional lists with huge time drops in their respective events. And Jack Steadham made new Age Group State cuts in the 100 Back and 200 IM and added his name to the Honor Roll with a new Zone cut in the 50 Free. Finally, two WTSC swimmers brought home blue ribbons from the Sizzler, with Avery Aiello (50 Free, 100 Back, 100 Fly) and Katie Countryman (50 Free, 50 Breast) touching the wall first in their respective events. You can view these accomplishments and more on the Honor Roll but outstanding job to all swimmers at the Sizzler. Way to go WTSC!
We have one deadline for two meets fast approaching, with June 11 being our in-house commitment deadline for both the Northside Closed Invite (June 30-July 1 @ NC) and the BBSC Summer Splash (July 13-15 @ Ben Davis HS). The Northside meet is a Zionsville Swim Club event being held at NC but should be looked at like a home meet in terms of swimmer participation, meaning we want our full crew in attendance! The BBSC meet will be the last chance opportunity for swimmers looking to make Divisional and State cuts for the season and will also feature a unique “King & Queen of the Sprints” format on Friday night. If you have questions about either event, please speak with your group coach and again, get your swimmers committed for both meets by June 11.
Team Uniform Reminder
Our showpiece event of the summer, the WTSC Father’s Day Challenge (June 15-17 @ NC) is one week away and we want to encourage our swimmers to look like a team in the water. Team cap colors are black, red, black on the respective days of the meet and we would like all swimmers to wear their team suits for all days of the meet or at least a black suit. Coaches can provide swimmers with caps and if you need a team suit or otherwise, visit Making Waves USA (formerly Circle City Swimwear on Binford). We did an outstanding job in terms of team uniform at the Sizzler last weekend and are looking forward to seeing another sharp looking group of swimmers in action next weekend!
