Great Swims Where The Air Is Rare

Juniors and Age Group Gold :  It's always fun to swim at the Air Force Academy and to get those cool new AF water bottles at this meet!  Our Junior and AG Gold swimmers did not disappoint with their swimming either!  We had 15 swimmers compete at this meet, with four swimming ALL best times:   Elam Estella  (4),  Cardin Nguyen  (6),  Alex Terhakopian  (4), and  Mikaela Allred  (4)!  Six new state cuts were achieved as well:   Elam  swam an 11-12 state cut in his 50 breast - even though he's 10!   Cardin  qualified in 50 back and 400 free - his first time ever swimming it!   Grace Mehall  qualified in 50 breast,  Monique Ardines  in 50 fly, and  Alex  in 50 breast!  As usual many of the time drops were huge:   Grace  dropped 28 seconds in her 200 IM and nearly 4 in her 100 breast,  Alex  and  David Terhakopian  each dropped 10+ seconds in their 50 frees,  Elyse Eilmes  dropped 8 seconds in her 50 fly,  Kytelyn Pieper  dropped nearly 6 seconds in her 50 free, and  Samantha Synsvoll  dropped nearly 4 seconds in her 50 fly!  Many of these kids have been swimming nearly every meet and have done these events several times recently, so to continue to drop so much time is very impressive!

Seniors: At the end of May, our seniors got a chance to test their lungs at the Air Force Academy pool at 7200 feet. For an early season meet at such altitude or swimmers fared very well for the small crew that we had competing. Leading the way with best times were the boys, with Isaac Eilmes and Michael Mehall both posting 5 new best times each. Isaac improved in the 100, 200, 400 and 800 free as well in the 200 IM. Michael improved in 50, 100, 200 and 400 free along with his 100 breast. Posting two new best times each were Kaelyn Hinesly (100 breast and 200 back), Amaya Porter (200 back and 200IM), and Bethany Slivka (400 and 800 free). Rounding out the best times with one each were Caroline Bricker (400 IM) and Kambry Lightfoot (200 IM).
