Walker-deJong Captures Six Medals at 2018 Western Region LC Championships

Thirty-nine Cambridge Aquajets participated in the 2018 Western Region LC Championships June 7-10, hosted by the Brantford Aquatic Club at the Wayne Gretzky Sports Centrel in Brantford.

This provincially sanctioned meet saw CAJ swimmers compete against 27 other competitive swim clubs.  Shaunna Walker-deJong brought home an impressive six medals; earning gold for her 100m and 200m freestyle, 50m butterfly and 200m medley, silver in the 200m butterfly and a bronze for 50m backstroke. Andrew Greenhalgh earned three medals, winning gold for his 100m and 200m backstroke and bronze in 50m backstroke.  Earning two medals were: Sean Maile, taking gold for his 400m freestyle and silver in the 50m butterfly and  Alexis Graham earning bronze for her 50m and 100m backstroke.  Also making the podium were: Clare Ashton winning silver in the 800m freestyle,  Natalie Wilson capturing a bronze for her 200m breaststroke and Jack Croswell earning bronze for his 1500m freestyle. Securing a spot in the top 10 : Ava Caron, Ella Caron, Gabriel Dyer, Brooke-Lynn Litwiller, Avery Moorhouse, Samuel Pilkington, Josephine Streppel, Arisa Tieu and Kyanna Vi.

Other qualifying swimmers included Mikayla Heeley, Hailey Murdoch, Owen Inglis, Billy Kenny, Noah Roth, Ava Bankay, Erica Braga, Jewel Buckley, Hannah Caron, Kaylee Cody Hodgson, Maggie Foote, Lauren Graham, Tyler Hawbolt, Claire MacDougall, Kyra McIntrye, Celia Moorhouse, Cadyn Parsons, Preston Priboj, Holly Richer, Emma Rutherford, Grace Ste-Croix, Edward Treiss, Laura Wilson, Mary Yakoub and Audrey Zeilstra.
