The 2018 Speedo Eastern Canadian Championships swim competition held April 12-15th, hosted by the City of Windsor and the Windsor Aquatic Club, was held at the Windsor International Aquatic and Training Centre.
This event brought together a great mix of Canada’s best senior, youth, and junior swimmers. The four-day competition hosted over 110 swim clubs, with approximately 700 swimmers, some of whom were striving for a spot in the 2020 Olympic Games in Tokyo.
Three Cambridge Aquajet swimmers qualified for this national level event: Rachael Anderson (50M and 100m breaststroke, 50m and 100m butterfly and 200m medley), Lauren Mage (50m, 100m 200m and 400m freestyle) and Shaunna Walker-deJong (50m freestyle). Competition was intense. Anderson earned a bronze with her time of 27.99 in the 50m butterfly; and made finals in both the 50m and 100m breaststroke, while Mage achieved finals for the 100m 200m and 400m freestyle.
