Congratulations on a Successful 2017-18 Season

Congratulations on a Successful 2017-18 Season

It has been another great season of swimming and learning here at the Delta Sungod Swim Club and I would like to thank everyone who helped make it so spectacular.

DSSC swimmers represented their team with pride at all levels of competition in BC and Canada.  Congratulations to our PASS level swimmers, Regional (LMR) level swimmers, Provincial level swimmers (Tier 1 and Tier 2) and National level swimmers (Western Nationals).  Your hard work and dedication to your craft has made Delta swimming faster than it ever has been.

I would like to thank all the members of the DSSC coaching staff for their commitment to excellence over the last 43 weeks of practices.  Without their diligence activities wouldn’t have been planned and practices and meets would not have been executed.  Thank you again to Assistant Head Coach Maxime Marechal-McCoy, Novice Coach Erin Taylor, DLC Assistant Coaches Logan Warkentin and Cory Bullock and finally Regional Coach Jaffa Winick.  I would also like to thank all the coaches who came in last minute to cover absences when Coach Maxime or I were travelling.

A special thank you to Coach Maxime who will be moving on to greener pastures next season.  His commitment to his swimmers as well as the social/emotional development of DSSC athletes cannot be replaced.   His ability to teach respect for fellow athletes and coaches will be part of his legacy here in Delta; a culture of handshakes for greetings and hard work during racing and practices will be remembered by all.  Thank you for your past 3 seasons of work.

Thank you to the Board of Directors, they have ensured that the policy and procedure that governs this club remains relevant and enforced.   President Suzette Penner, Treasurer Jessica Jensen, Registrar Kathleen Trites, Officials Director Wojciech Apanowicz, Volunteer Director Neena Sunner, and Members at Large Owen Soroke and Gurinder Sangha.   I am looking forward to working with our newest additions Jason Caspick and Meghann Bruneau who were voted in at this past AGM.  I know that they will work tirelessly for the benefit of our swimmers.

Registration Dates for the 2018-19 Season will be on Wednesday, September 6 and Thursday, September 7 from 5:00-7:00pm at Sungod Recreation Centre.  The first day of practice will be Monday September 10th.

DSSC athletes are still in the water with Tier 2 Provincial Championships being held next weekend and the Knights Invitational open to all LMR qualified swimmers who have registered for July Swimming; best of luck to all competitors.

The Coaching staff wishes everyone: parent, siblings and swimmers a safe and happy summer and looks forward to seeing all the bright, shining faces in September.

Yours in Swimming,

Kurt Murphy
DSSC Head Coach
