Chiu, Farzadeh, Hiruki, Li, Sun Break 12 Club Records at Tier I Provincials

Over three days in scorching Kelowna, 29 VPSC swimmers sought out to swim fast and finish the season with new best times. VPSC finished the meet with 2 gold medals, 6 silver medals, 2 bronze medals and a 3rd place overall across the entire province. Congratulations swimmers!

Twelve new club records were set over the weekend.

Briana Chiu set new marks in the Girls 10&U 200 Back and 200 IM. The 200 Back bested High Performance swimmer Alexandra Turvey's previous time of 2:47.15 with a new time of 2:46.34. In the 200 IM, Briana set a nearly 20 second best time to beat University of Toronto swimmer Heather Lam's previous record of 2:53.40 by over ten seconds, with a new time of 2:43.21.

Iden Farzadeh broke the Boys 11-12 record in the 50 Free, at a blistering 27.21, breaking Edward Zhou's 11 year old record by over half a second.

Hiro Hiruki broke the Boys 11-12 record in the 400 IM with a new mark of 5:13.24, beating High Performance swimmer Joe Zhang's previous record by over 3 seconds.

Andrew Li bested his own Boys 10&U short-course record in the 100 Breast by almost three seconds, at a new mark of 1:22.82.

Ivan Sun took home seven new club records, in the Boys 10&U 50 Free, 100 Free, 200 Free, 100 Back, 200 Back, 200 IM and 400 IM. All records except the 400 IM were previous held by Ivan, breaking his previous marks from anywhere between 0.2 seconds in the 200 Back to over 5 seconds in the 200 Free. The 400 IM record was previous held by teammate Noah Deschambault, and broken by Ivan by over 15 seconds.
