ROW at the Provincial Championships

Four ROW swimmers distinguished themselves this past weekend at the Summer Provincial Championships held in Etobicoke.

Alina Armbruster just snuck into finals in the 100 breast with a time of 1:20.16. She came back in the evening and moved up to 5thplace with a time of 1:19.04! A great finish to an equally great season.

Next up was Matthew Berton who swam in the 14 year old age group and had a terrific swim meet. Out of the 7 swims he had he did lifetime best times in 5 of them including huge drops in the 400 IM, 200 breast and the 200 fly, three of the most challenging events. In total he dropped more than 17 seconds which also included bests in the 200 IM, and the 100 breast.

Winning medals in backstroke events is nothing new for Natalie Peterson as she won a silver in the 200 back and a bronze in the 100 back both events she will contest at Canadian Trials later this month. She also recorded a best time in the 100 fly.

The strongest performances of the meet were easily those by Cam McCuaig who won the 400 free and 200 IM as well as a silver in the 100 free and the 100 back. Cam made some huge drops in the 400 free and the 100 back, both events he will be swimming at Canadian Trials later this month in Edmonton.

Swim Ontario also took this opportunity to present the PARA athlete of the year award to Alec Elliot and the PARA coach of the year award to Hans Witolla.

Congratulations to all of those who competed at Provincials and to Alec & Hans for their well deserved awards.
