It is with great excitement that we announce today that our swim club is growing! At the start of the short course season the swimmers and families from CCST and IST will officially join our club. Please join us in welcoming them into our swim family.
Bloomington is one of the best, if not the best, swim communities in the nation, thanks in large part to Doc Counsilman. All three of the clubs in Bloomington were created to honor Doc’s legacy of coaching the person first and athlete second. Doc understood that engaging with the swimmers, having fun, and working hard towards their goals was the key to fast swimming! We want to continue this legacy by unifying swimming in this great community!
We want to provide the best possible experience for our young people and we feel that merging the clubs is the best way to do that. There will be many benefits from having unity in our community. The most desirable pool times and parking availability will help our parents as well!
The Olympics are fast approaching and swimming will soon take a front seat in our country! Millions will have their eyes on the pool in Tokyo. Capitalizing on that energy will be huge for our unified club.
While we understand that change can be challenging at times, we ask everyone to embrace this exciting time for Bloomington swimming! The unified club name will be Indiana Swim Club and will officially start this Fall. Indiana Swim Club will continue to be a Not-For-Profit and will be run by our current Board of Directors.
We understand that there are many questions and/or concerns. There will be a parent meeting Monday July 23rd at 6:00pm at Bloomington South High School. We want this transition to be as smooth as possible and will work diligently to ensure our swimmers are receiving the best possible coaching and club experience.
Thank you for your support of Bloomington Swimming!
