Four of Langley & Abbotsford Olympians Swim Club swimmers is currently participating in the 2018 Pan Pacific Swimming Trials held in Edmonton, Alberta. Swimmers Josie Field, Bailey Herbert, Hillary Metcalfe, and Demetra Sicoli join many other top level Canadian swimmers to race and compete for a spot in the 2018 Pan Pacific Swimming Championships to be held in Tokyo, Japan this coming Aug 9-13, 2018. Swimmers who placed first will automatically be part of the team to attend the said meet. Swimmers in second place will be able to attend provided they meet the Fina "A" time for the event.
During Day 1, swimmers Bailey Herbert and Hillary Metcalfe were able to race in the "A" Championship Final in the women's 100 meter Breaststroke. Bailey placed 7th in the said event with a time 1:09.90L. Hillary placed 9th with a time of 1:10.71L.
Bailey also qualified to swim in the women's 400 meter Individual Medley. She placed 12th with at time of 4:58.71L.
Day 2 had three Langley Olympians' swimmers racing the women's 200 meter Butterfly. Josie Field raced hard in the morning to earn a spot in the "A" Championship final and placed 4th, just 0.27 seconds shy of her best time. Bailey was able to get into the "B" Consolation final, placing 14th with at ime of 2:18.04L. Demetra Sicoli placed 38th in the prelims with a time of 2:24.93L.
Today, Day 3, we have swimmers racing in the 400 FR (Josie Field) and the 200 IM (Bailey Herbert and Hillary Metcalfe).
In Day 4, we will have two swimmera racing in the 200 BR (Bailey Herbert and Hillary Metcalfe)
