LAC First ever LC FW top 10 finish

Congratulations LAC team members for our first ever LC FW top 10 finish. We placed 10th at Far Westerns tonight. The smallest team ahead of us has over 200 swimmers. All other teams ahead of us have over 500 swimmers, including a team from Mexico, and one of the larger Canadian teams. Maddie, Sophia, Abby, Taber, Bryson, and Jack all scored top 8 finishes today, giving us important points. Melinda filled in for the 15-18 400 M.R. and beat her best `100 br time by 5 seconds. Our 13-14 boys and girls each scored in their relays.

Sophia finishes the season with two National top 10 times including a 1st place in the 10 year old 50 fly. Abby finishes the season with a National top 10 time in the 14 year old 200 breast. We had several other athletes in the top 50 for their age.

We are so proud of our athletes and their awesome efforts at this meet. We had a team goal and the kids swam for more than themselves and were able to achieve the goal!

Yesterday in Irvine, Brandon Fischer completed his best ever finish at US Nationals placing 12th in the 100 breast shaving .4 off the time he did at 2016 Olympic Trials. Brandon was 3/3 in lifetime best times at Nationals. Brandon has a full time position at the Livermore Labs and has not missed one practice since he has returned to swimming!

Most of our athletes are now on break, but Abby will be travelling to Irvine tomorrow for LC Junior Nationals. Jacob, Maddie, Ashlynn, Chenoa, Natalie, and Abby will also compete in a relay for our team at Futures and/or time trials at Futures in Santa Clara. Sophia, Maddie, Bryson, and Alex will compete in Sacramento at the Western Zone Championships. Let's finish strong LAC!

Jack Davis will be playing in the little league world series over the next few days, so if you are in Livermore, please go root him on!

If you are now on break, we want to thank you for the positive role you played in making this a great season and we want to challenge you to think of other ways you can help the team achieve excellence every day. We are looking forward to working with you again next season!

I would like to give a special appreciation for Coach Rich, who stayed down in Irvine with Brandon while I was at Far Westerns, and to Coach Lisa, who will be running practices for our All Star and Futures swimmers and going to Futures while I am at Junior Nationals. Thank you also to Coach Theresa for running the last practices of the summer while Far Westerns started, and to Coach Alex Hamza who has covered a number of practices this summer while Lisa and myself were at meets. Thank you coaches for giving of yourselves so much!

Thank you also to Captain Katie and Captain Jacqueline. Our captains did a great job leading stretches, organizing cheer buddies, communicating timelines and important information to the group, and in some cases helping to coach. You did wonderful work with the team this season!

Finally, a huge thank you to all LAC parents. We had a phenomenal BOD this season who were efficient and proactive and had many great ideas. We had awesome chaperones, officials, and parent volunteers. We are so fortunate to have such a giving and hard working parent group who puts the welfare of the kids first and foremost. First practice of next season is September 4th. Please be sure to sign up as soon as enrollment re-opens on August 1st. Space in groups is limited. We look forward to seeing you in September!
